iPhone PAYG recalled by O2 UK

I just called my local O2 store to ask about availability of the iPhone 3GS, and they told me all iPhone stock on pre-pay has been recalled company-wide. I called another random store to verify this, and they said this is true.

Also, I then called the Apple store in Leicester, UK, and they said that none of their iPhone stock has been recalled whatsoever.

It obviously isn't a quality or safety issue, as O2 still have contract iPhone stock, which they are continuing to sell. My initial thoughts were that maybe it was something to do with the January 27th event... but upon reflection, that just makes no sense.

I just wanted to throw this out there.
