Guest Spooke Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 (edited) Hey Spooke, good luck I'm following your exploits closely as I'm about to try this myself, there are a few guides but most assume some basic knowledge which I'm afraid I lack. Regarding the guide I don't suppose you would list your steps (If it works!) as a guide would you? Does the phone need to be unlocked from T-mob before you try all this?? Good luck! Hey, Well my phone isnt unlocked so that shouldnt matter, I first installed December Update Then I installed the Recovery Image Then I booted into Recovery mode, Partitioned SD card etc. Then I flashed the rom, Now I booted I get lots of force closed of acore system.. :) B) Edit- I dont think I did, Il try that now Edit 2- Ok seemed to fix that problem, although when it booted Touchpal forced closed lol, I dont use that anyway so it doesnt matter to me Edit 3- the Widget text is in french, rest of UI is english, :S This is very wierd lol Edited January 27, 2010 by Spooke

Did you try upgrading ext2 to 3 again out of interest? Ps: Whenever you have to reboot/restart your phone go into recovery and run the repair ext, otherwise you will have problems installing apps :D
Guest Spooke Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 (edited) Did you do a wipe in recovery before flashing? Well go recovery and do a factory/system wipe anyway and reboot again n see what happens lol, not sure why touchpal crashed, but if you go to settings/locale you need to set it to english then reboot. Ps: Whenever you have to reboot/restart your phone go into recovery and run the repair ext, otherwise you will have problems installing apps :) Okee, Thanks for ur help! Gonna try and upgrade Ext etc.. Ill try the other stuff, Thank you! B) mmm, even repairing Ext says, Run 'fs Repair' via ADB!, How do i do that, please tell me Edited January 27, 2010 by Spooke
Guest starkos Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 (edited) Sorry mate I'm not very good with adb, but I'm interested why you're not able to use any of the commands in recovery. Did you try it with usb cable unplugged? I wouldn't worry, there's lots of clever people on here who will be able to help you out sooner or later.. soz I can't think of any thing else :) Edit: When you partitioned the sd card in recovery what options did you choose by the way? Guest starkos Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 Yea that sounds right, I was thinking maybe you didn't create the ext partition either lol. I'm really not sure to be honest, re-formatting/partitioning then re-flashing rom may do it, but may be better just to wit a bit and see if someone comes up with a suggestion...

B) Yea may be for the best to be honest, although now i'm starting to wonder if doing the wipe after flashing the rom instead of before may have caused it but not quite sure, my minds gone blank lol Well im sure you'll get it sorted soon enough anyway.. :)
Guest jmmL Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 (edited) Just a general reply. If you're getting force closures on acore - wipe then re-install (Paul advises a wipe whenever you go from TMO branded to vanilla). Not sure what the file system errors on the sdcard are about. I'm personally a big fan of Ubuntu - the liveCD contains a brilliant disk partitioner called gparted. Providing you have some blank CDs and a moderately fast connection, I'd just advise partitioning on ubuntu. You don't need to re-install the ROM when you re-partition. If you want to investigate via usb run this command (I'm assuming you already have adb) adb shell df -hThat will show you what partitions you have. Lastly; I switched to vanilla and haven't looked back. By default some bits are in french (the base of this ROM is a french U8230 build). To switch go to Settings -> Locale & text > Select locale and then choose "english". Edit:Yea may be for the best to be honest, although now i'm starting to wonder if doing the wipe after flashing the rom instead of before may have caused it but not quite sure, my minds gone blank lolThis probably wasn't the cause (I can't see how it would be).
