I recently purchased the omnia 2 from verizon. I have been trying to update to the latest firmware provided by samsung. I might already have it but I want to make sure that I can install the official rom before I try to flash a custom rom. The problem I am having is when I run the .exe file to update my phone, after the disclaimer and I select accept the update utility is asking me to install windows mobile device center then retry the update. I have WMDC installed and my phone connects to it fine on my comp. But for some reason the update will not work. It keeps telling me to install WMDC every time. I have tried running it as an administrator. I have unistalled and reinstalled all drivers and WMDC and I get the same result. I even tried disabling my antivirus program (trend micro) with no luck. I have no problems with my phone connecting to WMDC at all. But the samsung update keeps telling me to install WMDC first and retry. I am running windows vista 64 on both my laptop and my desktop comp and I get the same results on both computers so I am assuming it is a issue with vista. has any one else had this problem and is there a fix?

***EDIT***

apparently vista 64 is not supported by the samsung update according to their website, so I will have to find another way.

Custom ROMs are easier to flash, and the octans loader will allow you to flash a bricked Omnia II as well :)
