Guest Tendeiro Posted January 31, 2010 Report Posted January 31, 2010 (edited) Hi. As promissed, I've put hands at work and programmed a new interface (from scratch) for shortcut change in Samsung Today present in new ROM JA5 (equal to B7610 Omnia Pro) and the one provided by wes58 in his ROM. I saw that one single file, ShortcutPicker.exe doesn't work in many (pratically all) devices, so I've programmed my own version. It's installed in Windows folder, overwriting the one there. It's only function is to change shortcuts present in the Registry without keyboard use :) So, enough talk, let's go to pictures: It's working, but I know there might be some bugs there. Strangely, during the installation, windows warns about the file not being able to run on our device... At least in my Omnia II it worked (I've built the entire program using it, so I KNOW it's compatible... lol.) So ignore the guy and procede with the installation, it's OK. In the end it asks for reboot, and then it will substitute the Edit shortcut in Today Screen. B) The changes are on-the-fly, so no disable-change-and-then-enable necessary at all. :D Last thing: It's in English. I would like to use a mui file, but it's too simple to understand. (English is not my mother language either). I hope it helps you as much as I do. Compatibilities: Only tested in my GT-i8000 running JA5 from Secany. It NEEDS that Today Screen installed. Accepting feedback B) -> The problem with the ORIGINAL ShortcutPicker is simple to solve for some people, just try to rename the bigger/biggest link to a shorter name. <-Tendeiro_ShortcutPicker.cab Edited February 9, 2010 by Tendeiro
Guest acastiyo Posted January 31, 2010 Report Posted January 31, 2010 Great!! I hope to flash JA5 soon and try that Samsung today. It looks cool.
Guest Khisha Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 Samsung original shortcut picker works flawlessly for me. I guess the issue is with localized versions. I've read on 4pda.ru that it was due to long name of Remote Desktop. Once it was renamed everything worked. However, it would be nice to be able to edit other sections of this excellent launcher. For example I would be glad to change default mail and SMS applications which are launched from Today. As well as extend favorite contacts to more than 10.

Khisha, if only you said that sooner... lol. In fact, the problem is SIMPLY the name of some shortcuts. In my case was also remote desktop, which in portuguese was: "Ambiente de Trabalho Remoto Mobile.lnk"... Just changed to "Remote Desktop.lnk" and... voilá, it started to work... It deserves that "waa waa waa" sound. lol. Well, I guess I'll start a new project, namingly Sudoku or Cript Raider.
Guest Khisha Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 I am sorry to ruin it, but you can continue with the abilities I mentioned above. Changing The widgets themselves.
Guest ipaq3870 Posted February 7, 2010 Report Posted February 7, 2010 Hi Tendeiro I cant find the link to download your file - my longest link is something called "task switcher thumbnail.lnk" and it's in the rom and can't be deleted. I think your work is still very useful to me. Very much appreciated if you can repost it. Thanks.

I've improved a bit and it seems the RAM leak has decreased though. :D
Guest omar junior Posted February 9, 2010 Report Posted February 9, 2010 your ShortcutPicker get the EXE icon too ?
Guest Tendeiro Posted February 9, 2010 Report Posted February 9, 2010 your ShortcutPicker get the EXE icon too ? Yeap. I've extracted it and included in the EXE ;) It is interchangeable with the original one. But the working method is a bit different. It allows you to edit the 12 shortcuts at once. The original only lets you change the one you select.
Guest ipaq3870 Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 Thanks Tendeiro! You made my day ;) :D
Guest boust Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 is there any way to add a folder to the shortcut menu? i'd rather just have a 'games' folder with all of my games in it instead of making a shortcut for each individual game.
