Guest Charlton22
This morning, while my device was in my pocket, I noticed that the device was abnormally hot. The main heat spot was at the bottom back, where the acer logo is situated, exactly under the battery. The battery was also abnormally hot but not as much as where I think the CPU is (the bottom back, where the acer logo is situated, exactly under the battery) At that time, the battery temperature was 40deg celcius when the normal working temperature is about 20deg celcius. This happened when I had no apps running. I was running at 30% of battery and the device was not on charge, could this have been the cause? But I yes, I cannot understand why!?! Is this problem critical? I think that some damage could have been made to the device. Is there any app that outputs all the temperature probes in this device? Has any one encountered this problem? I heard many comments about the device getting hot, and its not my first time, hope my device is not faulty! Thanks!! Waiting for your replies... I'm using the Acer original battery. Mine always gets hot when charging AND playing or browsing. If it got hot in your pocket than maybe some app was working in background. Anyway i have the vizbattery widget which when clicked gives battery info including operating temp. Just notice that in your pocket, the battery should naturally get hotter. Guest Netgic
Unter the acer logo at the right side is the CPU. the best is you look what programs might run in the background and how the CPU utilization is. The battery itself does not cause this temperature. Edited February 2, 2010 by Netgic

Thanks for your reply, I understand that in very combined space the device would get hotter, but I don't think is should reach double the working range. Regarding the apps, I'm sure I had no apps running in the background. Hope there is no issue with the device... I's still waiting for the 2000mAh battery. Maybe is the acer battery that is defective. Is there any app that outputs other temps, ex cpu temp.....

I've had it, where my phone felt hot, like when I was charging it, but without charging it. This was caused by some application running in the background, for sure. My battery was drained very fast and a reboot of the device fixed this issue. I have no idea, however, why this happens, as at the time, I had no applications installed that should prevent the phone from sleeping.
