Guest jaytuu Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 (edited) I know Im not the only one with this problem and Ive tryed everyones sugestions and still nothing!!!! ;) This piece of crap keeps going into airplane mode by its self, cutting off phone calls, and ending internet connections. I know its going into airplane mode because I caught it doing it while I was in S2U2 and the little airplane came up. This is my third Omnia in 2 months, I`ve changed SIM cards as suggested, I`ve flashed the phone with 4 different ROM`s and also tryed "NODATA" Still nothing. Please if someones knows why this is happening or how to fix please help, if not I`ll be done with samsung for ever!! Edited February 10, 2010 by jaytuu

I haven't seen any other user reporting a problem like this. If you have had 3 different phones and they all do this I would suggest that the problem is likely to be something to do with additional software you have installed on your device or something specific to your environment. What 3rd party applications have you installed? If the problem occurs quite frequently, perhaps you could install a standard Samsung ROM and use the phone for a while without any additional software to determine if the problem is software related or specific to your environment. It is highly unlikely that this would be a generic Samsung problem if it isnt happening for other users and yet you have had the same issue with 3 different handsets.
Guest speedfrog Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 ;) you are the only one with the problem!
Guest meabigbaldguy Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 Do you have a branded phone - as in from a distinct phone carrier? If so, then the problem may be with the way the carrier has the phone configured. You said that this is your third Omnia, so I'm guessing that you are getting them replaced so easily from your provider.
Guest Snow02 Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 I am me, and therefore infallible. I suffered under that delusion for awhilen in my younger years. A good rule thumb is that if your having a problem, especially one that frustrating, and google gives you nothing, it's probably something you're doing.

Guest Snow02 Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 Well if I had known it was that kind of riddle...it still wouldn't have been very good. Funny take on it though.
Guest jaytuu Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 (edited) I love all the jokes ;) anyways Im not the only one having this problem cause when i started my first thread about it, I only talked about the internet problem "A REMOTE PARTY HAS ENDED YOUR CONNECTION" and so many people had the same problem, this is what my phone is doing juat when your in a phone call you dont get that message it just goes into airplane mode. And if you look at this forum there are 5 post on the first page about this same thing, just everyone words it differently, one guy is talking about his GPRS thats the same problem as me! another about dropped calls same as me Edited February 10, 2010 by jaytuu

Guest jaytuu Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 "A REMOTE PARTY HAS ENDED YOUR CONNECTION" This is a problem with your provider. I know because this is the same message I get when I go somewhere that is known to have no coverage from my provider here. I'm guessing your mistaking the icon for "no signal" as "airplane mode", but I could be wrong. Sorry not mistaken, I know its going into airplane mode because Ive gone into settings before it fixes its self and the phone was in airplane mode and it happens all the time and i have coverage because when it come back i have full signal but then later on it will happen again. As to the first reply Ive tryed flashing back to stock installed nothing for the first day and it still happened, as well as with the stock rom i cant recieve email notifacations, and I also know Im not the only one with that problem either. Lets face it the phone sucks!! plan and simple. i wanted this phone so bad before it came out but after I got it nothing but problems. The only good things about this phone is the battery life and the size of the screen. Speaking of which, that's another thing how many people like my self have dust under the screen???? THIS PHONE IS GARBAGE!!!! back to HTC for me!
Guest Snow02 Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 (edited) Depending on your location, signal can fluctuate. Especially if you're in between towers. But hey, if you run it stock for a week, and you confirm through wireless manager that it is in fact in airplane mode and not just losing signal, keep taking them back. No ill-will above man, it's just that radio issues are > 9/10 times not user fixable, and what most people believe are radio issues almost always turn out to be something else. Not to mention, getting three phones that have the same problem is either a lie, or scoffing in the face of modern engineering. It's statistically highly improbable, but more likely impossible (can't tell for sure without a value for the radio failure rate across the line or at least for your region, but either way, these things do go through QC) for that to happen, minus there having been a batch defect, which we would have heard about. There's just no way it's a problem with the phone(s). But to be honest, red and pink large fonts screaming "this peice of crap" really just screams "attention whore". Sorry. It's true. Plus, you write in horrendously long run-on sentences. Add it all up and it makes it kind of hard to take you very seriously. So...no one else bump this thread and let's just let it die, ok? Guest Laziepig Posted February 11, 2010 Report Posted February 11, 2010 noob lol.. r u a htc promoter?? if not try s hard reset ;) vol up + lock + call + power buttons..
Guest daskalos Posted February 11, 2010 Report Posted February 11, 2010 You said you changed SIM cards 3 times? Are these cards all from the same carrier? Try a sim card that is from a different network operator. Maybe your problem is caused by your current carrier... Or Change your band settings... check if changing the bands will solve your problem
Guest AndrewTan Posted February 11, 2010 Report Posted February 11, 2010 I believe you the ONLY ONE! I never seen anyone post such issue anywhere. I check OMNIA 2 related site everyday. Me and also my another 3 friends purchase OMNIA 2, total 4 person never face such issue before. My phone never went to Airplane mode automatically before. The signal strength is strong and no issue.
Guest dgmorland Posted February 11, 2010 Report Posted February 11, 2010 If you have run the phone with a standard ROM with no other software it is almost certainly a network signal issue (environment). If your provider has both 3G and GSM coverage, try changing your phone settings to use only 3G or only GSM band (not the automatic switching between which is the default) and see if the problem continues.

I used my Omnia2 to surf the internet as well as a modem connected to my PC for downloading Scany ROM files. It border me since I owned the Omnia2. This was the serious problem on Omnia2. During surfing internet, it intermittendly shut off phone and GPRS for about 5 second and connect back automatically. For surfing internet is not a big problem but worse thing when I downloading a big ROM file when this happen especially near 90%. My download failed and need to start from zero again. You all know with RS download. What a big suffer to me. A new SIM card changed and it worked for me the first day. Then the problem came backed again. Goto Samsung service center and their staff told me this problem only happen on wm6.1. So I flashed to full IJ9 and tested with the same result, flashed to full JA5 also having the same problem. It shown Samsung staff talking bullshit. Then I borrow an Omnia2 from a friend with stock ROM IJ9, same problem. I concluded that it was a defect on Omnia2.

I had this issue while ago with my i900. Solved when i flashed my phone part. @Skoda, dude ur phone is "sleeping " when ur connection is shutdown? Edited February 11, 2010 by Bruno Adler

This problem I encounterd many times when I connected to GPRS. The 3G and GPRS all gone but I went to check the setting, I still in phone mode. It just off for a duration for few seconds and it will automatically connected back. It symptom like the 3G networks been resetting or the 3G chip was suffer high temperature and it was shutting down. I tested on wm6.1 IH5, IJ9 IK5 and JA5 all having the same problem. Even bollow an Omnia2 from a friend with stocked ROM IJ9 having the same problem. This was a big problem on me because 3G is the only way for connecting to the internet. Even the internet sharing worked differently on wm6.1 and wm6.5 on Omnia2 compare to Omnia.

Maybe it's a SIM fault?

Thank you finally someone with advise, dont think it will work but Ill give it a try anyways, its the only thing I havent done. Now when I go into the settings my options are GSM 900/1800 GSM 850/1900 or WCDMA what should I try what are the differences??
Guest jaytuu Posted February 11, 2010 Report Posted February 11, 2010 Never mind I tryed no good When I used WCDMA it happened every 2 min and the two GSM settings I just had no signal

I had changed to a new SIM, it worked on for first day. On the second day onward, the problem came back. 3G is the only way for me to connect to the internet, so I felt the pain and nuisance. Even Samsung stuff bullshit me this problem only occur on wm6.1. But the stock ROM IJ9 also same problem on mine and my friend Omnia2. I used to download Scany ROM, and the singal interrupted and cause my download failed. But today was very peaceful for me. All the time was working fine.
