Guest Chad Petree Posted February 11, 2010 Report Posted February 11, 2010 Does wm 6.53 still have the restriction to use 65k colors? if we get a beta of windows mobile 7 would it be posible to use the full 16 million colors the omnia II has ?

Guest babyjosef17 Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 dude if your eyes can see more than 25000 colors I give you a cookie! )))))))))) I lol'ed at this. Seriously though, we can see a difference with a 65k and 16m is it? Because on some wallpapers there is visible color banding. Never had a 16m touch screen phone yet so not sure if the same wallpaper will color band in that.
Guest xaznxplaya Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 # 1 & # 2, can't see anything else xD
Guest babyjosef17 Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 In windows 7 the transition of reds are smooth. while on 6.5 you can see banding. It's like layers of red on top of each other. For the windows 7 it's smooth fading of Red. Do I get a Cookie?

Congratulations, you are one of the few that have the gift to distinguish over 65k colors. Please refer to downjones to collect your prize. Edited February 12, 2010 by gchris7

Guest JasonMania Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 ITS SO OBVIOUS!!!! You mean most guys cant see that?? Not that I want to sound rude but seriously,I thought its was fairly clear which is which! Yea I agree the difference is so obvious , those who say there is no difference , apparently you haven't seen 16m color screen , for instance Nokia n97 or Nokia 5800 both have 16m color os which is much better than windows mobile. I got this phone for the AMOLED screen , and i didn't know much about windows mobile before i got it , I was so disappointed with it , but already spent too much money on it , so got to keep it for couple of years , what is the point of Samsung putting AMOLED screen on windows mobile device , it is not like you can see better cause the OS doesn't support it.
Guest Tony_vegas Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 ya i agree its TOTALLY noticeable i wish i had 16m color support. I own a palm pre and an omnia ii and the pre supports 16m colors and the pictures and backgreounds look ALOT better on it. same picture on each one side to side theres an obvious difference
Guest AndrewTan Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 dude if your eyes can see more than 25000 colors I give you a cookie! )))))))))) Off course can see the different. 65k color is not enough, and the color blending cannot be smooth. My eye can catch the different. Where is my cookie????
Guest AndrewTan Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 # 1 & # 2, can't see anything else xD So obvious! can't see the different? Windows 7 can blend the image tones better than the old one.
Guest ...GeForce... Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 Wait a minute.....how the hell did you get winmo 7?
Guest Ender Psp Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 Wait a minute.....how the hell did you get winmo 7? That's one thing/question. Personally, by looking at the 2 photos, I'd use #1, on the basis that there are less visible "ugly" small bubbles. As for the banding, it is still visible in #2. And yes, I know I'm picky and this is actually an exercise, but what the heck, fun is free ;) Do I get a cookie? Of course I do, I have the cookie jar near me... To actually answer the question originally asked: Does wm 6.53 still have the restriction to use 65k colors? if we get a beta of windows mobile 7 would it be posible to use the full 16 million colors the omnia II has ? The people who can ask this question, most probably won't. So, for the moment your question will remain unanswered. What I can tell you is that WinMo7 is kept very hush-hush, even inside Microsoft, for their own employees from other divisions :D (no, don't ask) So, any "info" you might think it leaked about Win7 out are most likely rumors. Except for beta testers :(
Guest Shiryu Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 Wait a minute.....how the hell did you get winmo 7?It's Windows 7, not a WM 7 ;)
Guest darkworldzz Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 yea.. #1 has more black at the background and #2 has better colour at the background.. but i suspect some photoshopping here ;)
Guest XeOS Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 The device is easily capable of presenting 16M colors, it's a restriction of Windows Mobile. And yes, the difference is very easy to spot. And as for Photoshopping yes or no, it's a moot point as Microsoft isn't exactly known for it's good rendering of images in various apps, sometimes changing the format on the fly (jpg to png, that kinda stuff)
Guest gchris7 Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 There is no photoshoping. Put the windows 7 picture in your phone and see how it looks... And yes omnia 2 screen is capable for more than 65k but wm6.5 doesnt support it.
Guest bigfoune Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 if someone does not see that the second image is more accurate than the first I advised him to see an ophthalmologist...
Guest Ender Psp Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 if someone does not see that the second image is more accurate than the first I advised him to see an ophthalmologist... No need to be rude. And to point you that that's debatable, what does "more accurate" mean? You weren't specific and one can interpret that any way they want to. And you might want to advise "her"s too, btw, we're not just guys in here, surprisingly ;) Peace. What I don't see is the point of continuing this, the original question can't be answered. If you can answer, ok, go ahead but please prove it. You might want to keep asking but what you'll get is hearsay. Microsoft wants to keep this under wraps and trust me, they are. You, me, and many others will have to wait until something official comes out that can answer that question, whether is a statement (doubtful) or a leaked beta build.
Guest Chad Petree Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 seems like the cookies offered wont be enough for ALL of us :D i can see the difference too , mm ok theres almost NO info on windows mobile 7 , but isnt windows mobile 6.5.3 supossed to be out ? at least leaked roms?
Guest AndrewTan Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 I hope Microsoft will finally added more than 65k color...let it be 16M color in Windows Phone 7. If Microsoft still insist of 65k, is the time leavin Windows Phone..... Android keep growing and growing and it keep better and better.
Guest Ender Psp Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 I hope Microsoft will finally added more than 65k color...let it be 16M color in Windows Phone 7. If Microsoft still insist of 65k, is the time leavin Windows Phone..... Android keep growing and growing and it keep better and better. Oh, I hope for much more than that. WM7 needs to be really dazzling, and not only in this regard (at least 256k colors suport). We're talking improvements here, so if it's only an interface boost, I'll be sorry to leave all my programs behind, but it might be time to move on. But I think they've got the message that WinMo7 needs to be much more than WM5-WM6 was.
