Guest c3p9 Posted February 13, 2010 Report Posted February 13, 2010 Hi everyone, today I did a hard reset and wasn't sure if it would wipe off "My Storage". So I took a few minutes and copied it to "Storage Card". Well, the hard reset did not erase anything within "My Storage". It can be good if you have lots of stuff inside it and need a hard reset for some reason. It can be a problem if your intention is to really wipe off all your data. In this case you need to hard reset plus use the "Clear Memory" application inside Samsungs settings. So be careful when dealing with My Storage erase.

Actually, I'm quite certain that this is already a well known fact.... well, at least for anyone familiar with the Omnia line.
Guest c3p9 Posted February 14, 2010 Report Posted February 14, 2010 Actually, I'm quite certain that this is already a well known fact.... well, at least for anyone familiar with the Omnia line. I came from an Eten Device without internal storage. Just thought this info might be useful to others :D

Guest bluhound Posted February 14, 2010 Report Posted February 14, 2010 Ok, to summarise it up:- 1. Hard reset (4 hard keys), only resets the Internal Storage 2. To reset My Storage and Internal Storage, use *2767*3855#. Some of you might suggest heading to Samsung Settings -> Memory Settings -> Clear Memory. That actually calls the same *2767* stuff. 3. As for Storage Card, to be sure head into Samsung Settings -> Memory Settings -> Storage Card -> Format.
Guest ipaq3870 Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 I think the problem with "clear storage" is that it will delete the files on "my storage" file by file, directory by directory. If there's any process still opening a file (like services/unkillable processes), these files won't be deleted and you will still see them after reboot. And to really seriously clear "my storage", you should hook up the device in USB mode, and do a serious wipe.
Guest damienloh Posted February 17, 2010 Report Posted February 17, 2010 Some of the firmware version (I am using WM6.1) will erase "My Storage" when you do a hard reset via Samsung Setting or Hardware buttons. I lost some files on My Storage but fortunately not important.
Guest sh.a.rk Posted February 18, 2010 Report Posted February 18, 2010 To reset all - run file TMOServiceMenu.exe - Factory Reset
