first you need to have all of your contacts in outlook, if you havent got this already you need to get the phone sync software for your manufactuer.

For doing this last night i used a NOKIA 6300 which was my girlfriends. I then got the data suite and used SYNC to get all of the contacts into outlook.

EASY!

next you need to go to outlook and choose

File >>>> IMPORT AND EXPORT

EXPOPRT TO A FILE

COMMA SEPERATED VALUES (DOS)

LOCATE YOUR CONTACTS... CLICK THE ICON >> NEXT

CHOOSE WHERE TO SAVE YOUR NEW FILE AND WHAT TO CALL IT.

click Next and then finish This is now genereating

once done, go to your web browser and then to to

http://mail.google.com/

go down the left hand side and select contacts and now top right there will be a link IMPORT

locate your CSV file. this will take a second or two and now we are done.

all that is left is to login to your google account on your new android phone! this will auto sync and background data is there. if now hold down on the desktop and then choose widgets >>>> power control then click the SYNC icon (circle with arrows)

FINISH.

I hope this is useful to help you get started with your new android phone :D
