Guest thescope Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 It seems the battery holds longer but if you use 3G and have 3.5G covrage it will stick to 3G and not change to 3.5G and will result in slower Internet! I have skype runing 24/7 on my phone sometimes using IM+ and it seems to give me more battery life but Skye is now runing slower. Takes me longer to load web pages and sync email/weather... Is there a way I can make the Omnia stick to 3.5G (HSDPA)?
Guest Bruno Adler Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 Okay i'll be updating my whole rom topic today with 28232 .
Guest La Traviata Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 (edited) Based on my experience, normally I get dynamic readings on top bar, ie 3G, G, H, E when moving from location from another, but with this cab, I only get one static reading (ie 3G) from place to place. But when I browse to Internet then this reading changes into what available on that location. So I think it just stops updating the '3G network condition' from one BTS to another but not the '3G network access'. So it should be OK. Thank you so much for the clarification. :( Presumably email delivery also works as normal? I don't mind not having HSDPA, but I use internet and email a lot and in one of my main travel destinations (Japan) GSM only phones don't work at all. Edited February 24, 2010 by La Traviata
Guest adhip Posted February 25, 2010 Report Posted February 25, 2010 Thank you so much for the clarification. :( Presumably email delivery also works as normal? Yes, internet & (pull) email are working normal, just like before installing this cab. No need to set anything to enable them. Last year, I have a trip to Japan (b4 using this cab) and yes, no GSM so I must rely on 3G network (Japan use FOMA, WCDMA & 3G). However since my 3G setting at that time is similar with today and they are working normal with or without this cab, then probably it should be fine too.
Guest adhip Posted February 25, 2010 Report Posted February 25, 2010 +1 on that!! Already in my 23103 and 21634 roms :( .. Cheers Hi Nick & Bruno, I definitely will try your ROMs :(
Guest tmichel Posted February 28, 2010 Report Posted February 28, 2010 Hello, Not using i900 for data calls, I am moderated sms/phone user, mainly using gps in car with phone connected to car lighter. Only activesync is in running processes and BT turned on. (even if I kill activesync, it comes back later on, dummy exchange site tweak to sync to does not prevent it to be reincarnated) Back from office I charge my i900 till green light. At a wake up, battery drained of 10% (90% remaining). Great. Another day, in same condition, it used 65% of battery (35% remaining). Another one is 50% or 80% ... Any idea about such a draining behaviour without using phone during night ? My rom is WM6.5 ROMs by Ryrzy, build JCIC1/28205 "Normal version" using WM6.1 traditional today layout, phone DXIA2. Gave also a try to let phone till empty battery and recharding without turning on phone. No major difference. In WM6.1, I was at least 3-5 days without need to charge ... Any idea ? Th
Guest La Traviata Posted February 28, 2010 Report Posted February 28, 2010 (edited) Yes, internet & (pull) email are working normal, just like before installing this cab. No need to set anything to enable them. Yeah, I installed the .cab and left the phone settings on automatic and everything works as normal. Not sure what the developer was referring to with setting GSM as default. The .cab seems to stop the dynamic network search, but not totally. The signal in my home (of all places) is very unstable and before installing the .cab would constantly fluctuate between 3G, G and E and full signal to no signal at all. With the .cab it still switches between 3G and E from time to time, but not as much. Most of the time it is 3G now. The only thing I adjusted was background light, which I had set to manual and lowest. The .cab moved it a bit higher than lowest, so I moved it back down. Edited February 28, 2010 by La Traviata
Guest tmichel Posted March 2, 2010 Report Posted March 2, 2010 All, You should consider giving your I900's phone rom a look to solve battery drain issues ... More and more, I am guessing guilty in battery drain issue is not WM65 but more in phone rom's side, continously polling ... Phone rom DXIA2 is a battery killer. Above .cab allowed me to safe a bit of power but ... Since I upgraded on last Sunday to XBIC1 (found link in thread "phone.bin - Collection - Free download" in this forum http://www.modaco.com/content/i900-general...free-download/) my omnia is reincarnated. Increadible : 15 sec or less to get Sat fix (5-8 sats) and battery life is back to great : moderate usaage and already 3 days without charging yet ! Phone rom update is just an exe like flashing PDA Rom. Mine works like a charm with WM6.5 ROMs by Ryrzy, build JCIC1/28205 Happy phone rom update party ! Th
Guest Mariukas Posted April 3, 2010 Report Posted April 3, 2010 Hi, I found this article : http://www.techparaiso.com/3-battery-life-...klight-general/ Then I use the cab supplied there to enhance my P_Dhee 28217 M2D ROM's Omnia, which - after 2 week - I think it's extend my phone battery life almost one day. Cab attached, hope it extend your battery too :P Edit : Forgot to say thanks to the developer....:( THANKS! Hi, where does it go after instalation and how to run it, or does it run itself?
Guest bundia Posted April 3, 2010 Report Posted April 3, 2010 Hi, where does it go after instalation and how to run it, or does it run itself? yes, just click the cab and it will install itself in the windows folder
Guest bundia Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 seriously this is the best thing that ever happened after windows 6.5 !!! i had wifi on all day yesterday and it was nearly 40% at 7pm .. today now at 7pm with wifi all day long it's 80% -also i did some light calls, and it's on for constant email checking- i dun really know how this thing works but it does ! i will keep on testing and so and tell if i saw more differences for now !! GO FOR IT ! 10/10
Guest bundia Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 forgot to add , the device is working always .. it doest get "turn off after 1-2-3 mins" thing .. just on working all the way and 80% at least that's what's written !! even if 60 ! it would be great
Guest ronaldb3 Posted April 5, 2010 Report Posted April 5, 2010 Tried to get to the article that has the cab but keep getting 404 error. Can someone post a link to just the cab. Thanks, Ron...

Guest adhip Posted April 5, 2010 Report Posted April 5, 2010 (edited) Got it. Thanks. I was thinking there was a different version to use at the other location. Ron... Yes, I'm hoping for a newer version with improved/additional registry hacks too. But I guess there's none. I combine this with WM longlife but seem no further saving (except that we have some control on 2G-3G settings). Edit : I have to take my statement above back. I'm using a new ROM, installed the wm longlife then the cab, and now after 2 days, I still got 60% battery (previously about 50%), wm longlife indeed give further enhancement, but don't expect an extreme one :P . I'll revise my 1st post. Edited April 9, 2010 by adhip
