got my omnia 2 at xmas and was a little crap at first what with all the bloatware and silly sms app that came with it, but i decided to stick with it and came across this site, all the ultra lite roms etc made this phone amazing.

take the iphone for example. or even iphone 3gs:

£75 month on 24 month contract.

3mp cam. no flash. 450 - 600mhz processor.

cannot multitask

hard to jailbreak etc

omnia 2 :

800 mhz processor easily overclockable.

5mp cam dual flash

quite a bit of ram, granted theres some complications with that recently but pagepool editing should make it better.

the damn phone can multitask, i text whilst listening to radio and browse opera 10 beta 3. it dosent even flinch.

yeah granted the open gl is a bit of a farce but its win mo so nothing that cant be fixed.

and for what £25 month :D

so i just thought id start this thread to say how happy i am with the omnia 2. vs the iphone. iphone is for kids. not saying its bad, but im just saying its so commercial, easy, simple, for a bigger price, just to look cool, in my eyes that isnt cool :D

I'm with ya, man! I love my O2.

As for the app-closing/mem issue, I think we've found a fix, thanks to Rudd. Check out the thread (it's near the top of the list right now, being active today).

I am so disappointed with my Omnia II , regret paying so much money for it , I expected a lot more from this device , they said it has fast CPU, 256 mb ram , AMOLED screen , blah blah ,

what they don't tell you is ( I feel so cheated by Samsung) , despite the CPU power everything is so laggy , nothing runs smooth on this device, 256mb ram without tweaking it you have like 50 mb ram only.

And don't get me started on the AMOLED screen which is yea it is great , but the software only supports 65k color , what is the point of having this display.

GPS doesn't work right , it takes a long time to get a lock even with assisted GPS on.

They only good thing about this device is the Camera , I have to say I am pretty happy with the camera only , and i use it alot.

At the end of the day this device is meant for those who constantly want to tweak their device constantly and play with the settings , rather than using it ,

I have been checking this forum specially the ROM part looking for some magical ROM that can fix all the issue with this phone , and am hoping they can port the new Samsung Android software which is running on some of their recently released phones to this device , but the pros say it is highly unlikely.

HTC phones perform much better than this( People in this forum constantly try to port that great user interface to their Omnias) ,and the software and ui is great, personally my next choice will be an android device they seem fast and smooth.

that is the end of my rant .

and I hope someone can take this crap off my hand at a reasonable price.

well we can use the samsung skinned apps or spending all day trying to press those tiny buttons on a windows default application.

despite the color limitation, the Omnia 2 screen is still the best out there, at least before the Nexus One came out.

I mean if Nexus One came out a bit earlier, or if HD2 has AMOLED screen, I totally wouldn't have bought the Omnia 2. I'm just such a tech fan I couldn't miss this new technology.

again, stuffs like iPhone are for you to actually use, like, use. this pile of samsung failures is for you to flash flash and flash again.

On the other hand, HTC would have the goodies of both sides I think. Only no AMOLED.

Thank for the info but I can't found any. I only had Chainfire patch "autoCloseProgram" v1.1. Can provide the link? Thank!

Few issues which I've now, if are resolved, I might feel "not too bad" as I'm feeling now including internet settings: I've configured the settings but I can't use internet... Keypad can't be rotated to type more easily.. I've reset my device couple of times but its also of no use.. I suspect after reset I can't get the default settings back.. Another thing which I don't like is language options: it gives me 3 options arabic, english or both. if I choose english only I can't read arabic sms.. if i choose both, all the menu is displayed from right to left..
