Did you find out how to do this? It's really annoying me.

yes, it's an annoying problem that time can only be displayed for today's calls, any calls beyond today only have the date displayed, and the stupid thing is the record displays the length of the call..... who is interested in the call length when it can't even display the time of call? why doesn't the record display time instead of length? Samsung developer should be shot in the head......

Luckily, I installed Photo Contacts Pro and Photo Contacts keep a text log of all calls including time and date. I refer to this text record whenever I need to find the time certain calls are made.

you may want to try the following steps:

1) press the call button

2) press on the menu softkey

3) under "View", choose "All Calls"

4) select the number you wish to see the exact call logs

however, everytime you exit or close it, you will need to set it again in order to see the information.

yeap...this one works...but like you said...if you exit than you have to do it all over again. I think it is possible to change the default view to "all cals" in registry but I dont know what registry exactly. If somebody finds it please let us know.

That only works if you know the number you are looking for...... sometimes I want to find out the number of someone which I dont remember his number, but only remembered he called me at 1pm yesterday, without time display on call log, can't find that out unless you've only got a few calls for the whole day

It's actually not from Microsoft, the Omnia 2 call log is a customized app from Samsung

Agreed. I wasn't understanding what you were all going on about 'cos I could see all my call history time/date/duration just fine.

Then I went to "Call Log" (the Samsung one) and saw what you guys were talking about.

I disabled the samsung dialer so when I press the Call (hardware) key, I get the microsoft one, click "Call History". Yes, it shows time for today's calls only (other dates are still chronological by time) - however if I click on any of the calls from other dates there's a full history log with that particular number. Outgoing calls, incoming calls, what day, what time and how long for.

Fair enough, the MS dialer isn't as pretty - though it does the job - and apparently quite well too, now

hehehe...you are right. Thanks a lot.

Disabling the samsung dialer does the job. And also 10 MB extra to the RAM.

Thank you again.

What's the alternative dialler to uses instead of the samsung one? Does the fron buttons work with another dialer?

You'll lose video call ability if you disable the Samsung dialler.

I've upgraded to JC2, and I'm glad to notice that Samsung has improved the call log. You can now see the exact time of each call for all calls.

Hi, ray1234.

What means "I've upgraded to JC2" ?

Because I have a Omnia I8000, WM 6.5, and the device version is:

PDA: I8000LNUIIJ1

CSC: I8000LZTMIJ1

PHONE: I8000LUIIJ1

Is it possible upgrade my Omnia too, and to have a new Samsung dialer, as you ?

Thanks

You're on IJ1, a very old WM6.1 rom. You should upgrade to WM6.5, you can find a lot of custom roms on this forum.

I'm running custom ROM .. SB30 (WM6.5) ..

Don't know about other ROMS... but when you enter call log .. press on any call you want and you'll find (Call Duration) between the contact information ..

Disabling the Samsung dialer (I didn't test this myself yet)

* Open any registry editor, go to HKLM\Security\Phone\Skin

change Enabled > 1 to 0

* Warning: This disable video call and MMS

* Can save 10MB Program Memory and also speed up searching through contacts & sent SMS.

* Can be done with SKtools too: TuneUp/Phone Edition/OEM Dialer skin

Taken from "Omnia2: Tweaks, Flash Guide, Sugggested Programs FAQ", it's a pinned topic.

Personally, I have since moved to newer roms (jh2) and I think it is very similar to some jg ones. My current rom I choose most apps to install and remove. I had to add in "Samsung Dialer" and "Samsung Call Log". If you have this in your "Settings" - "Remove Program" then obviously, that's a better way to do it.

Hi, yorkhoh.

Thank you for your answer.

Well, I didn't change my ROM yet. I'm reading many posts

about the procedure before to do it because I don't want

to have my Omnia like a "paperweight".

Then, I'm looking for some alternatives solutions. I did what you wrote but in both dialers, Samsung and WM, the hour of calls isn't registered for all days, but only todays calls. In WM dialer, I see the hour of call only if I to access the contact's register, like yun can see on the pictures below:

......Samsung Dialer..............Samsung Log Calls........Sansung Log Contacts

teladiscsamsungcustom.jpghistchamsamsungcustom.jpghistchamcontsamsungcust.jpg

...........WM Dialer......................WM Log Calls.................WM Log Contacts

teladiscwmcustomp.jpghistchamwmcustom.jpghistchamcontwmcustom.jpg

I'm trying to find any way to change the native call log of Samsung, or WM, and show the hour of calls on all days, on register, like the call log of P.h.o.n.e.x dialer:

....P.h.o.n.e.x call log

histchamphonexcustom.jpg

Do you know if it is possible ?
