You can just download the kernel and flash it yourself in fastboot mode.

This is true, but the kitchen is so convenient that I can download new updates from the phone itself and wont have to keep reflashing the kernel between updates. I check this site daily. I love this feature. It's awesome, and I've never had any complaints of any of the alphas so far because the updates are so frequent. I notice a problem, and then it doesnt really bother me knowing that it'll be gone within a week or so.

Sorry if that sounds lazy, but I thought that's what the intent of the kitchen was for.

I understand if Paul doesn't want to use someone else's kernel though.

Thanks for answering my question.

I was just curious.

How am I spamming the thread. I just wanted my question to be answered.

Because you have asked the question no less than three times, using copy / paste. Either people don't know, or don't want to respond, or are looking for you to do a little more research on your question(s). We've all read your post . . . at least three times.

Has anyone seen some wierd behavior of the lock/sleep button on A14? I press it to lock/sleep and then in a second on its own the screen turns on - still locked but ready to be pressed on the menu button and unlock it when i dont want to use it. Anyone seen this? It was annoying enough that i moved back to stock rom, I hope the desire official release comes soon! <_< Thanks for the hard work!

Thank you very much for the rom!!!

I'm just nitpicking, but is there anyway to change the default incoming call icon (the green android) to something else?

Thanks for all your hard work. This was all amazingly easy. Just wanted to ask if there will ever be a mod where we can make the trackball wake the phone. It would save having to download flyscreen. Everything else is awesome.

I thought I'd take a look at this, coming over from MCCR 1.9.

Initially I tried without a wipe, I got as far as the unlock screen, but with no wallpaper, it seemed to hang.

I wiped, reflashed, wiped again but it still wont work. It stops after just a minute in the logcat (pic 1 attached)

I tried again and I've posted a pic of the initial errors.

Any ideas?

Hi m8,

Do I understand correct.. after flashing your Phone hangs while rebooting..?

After 1 Minute?

If yes...:

The first reboot after coming from another Rom sometimes takes a good 5 Minutes!!

So give it some more than 1 minute.

No, it stops doing anything (I'm watching the logcat, which I posted above). Even when it appears to have hung, it always shows stuff is being done when you watch the logcat, this says something like 'stopping here' and then stops...

+1 on Paul's work here. This feels much more like a polished beta than an alpha release thanks to him.

Basic question for those that have managed to sync Facebook for Sense with the Desire contacts apk - does the sync icon just stay in your notification bar at all times or does it eventually disappear?

If you don't get facebook sync to work properly I can recommend this app: http://www.androlib.com/android.applicatio...ksync-njDx.aspx (it gives you contact pictures etc. I have a friend using it and it works superb according to him)

1. Bake your flavor of choice in the kitchen.

2. Put the .zip file on the root of your sd-card

3. Make sure you have 50%+ battery left on your phone!

4. If you don't have an up-to-date version of the recovery you can of course flash that on if you want to. I can recommend the steps below:

Copy recovery-RA-nexus-v1.6.2.img to the root of your sdcard

start the terminal app and type the below (press enter) indicates that you should press enter!

su (press enter)

flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-nexus-v1.6.2.img (press enter)

reboot recovery (press enter)

5. Boot into recovery via adb reboot recovery

6. Do a nand or bart backup (I don't know the difference between the two  but I usually go for nand out of old habit)

7. Wipe your phone (do all the wipes for good measures!)

8. Flash the Desire.zip (or whatever you named it) from your SD-card.

9. Boot it up and wait <_< First boot can take up to 5 minutes!

No, it stops doing anything (I'm watching the logcat, which I posted above). Even when it appears to have hung, it always shows stuff is being done when you watch the logcat, this says something like 'stopping here' and then stops...

I would recommend that you reflash! Try restoring your backup, and wipe everything and flash again.

If this doesn't work you can try downloading a stock rom, flashing that on and after that wiping and reflashing the desire zip.

I think his point was that it's considered rude to spam on internet forums. It would probably have been better if you, when you didn't get an answer the first time, did some research yourself and updated the rest of us on your findings. If you do this research and can't find anything out, sure you can post again but perhaps you should rephrase your question instead of just using the ol' ctrl+c and ctrl+v <_<

Good you got your question answered though

Try "Trackball Alert" from the Market to configure it.

I understand that you want your question answered, but you posted the same question a couple of times.

Also, if you do a search in the forum for the question you asked, you would see that its already been answered in the past.

You can't download widgets at this time and if you want the additional HTC Widgets available, try the Market.

I'm really not trying to be difficult here.

That's impossible.

Or you're doing something wrong.

Ok, try this:

Go to www.google.com/voice *on your PC*. Click call and try it.

On the phone you're calling to, does it still show your cell phone number or GV #?

<<That's impossible.

No. I reproduced this numerous times

<<Or you're doing something wrong.

This is not exactly "pardon the pun" rocket science. I think I know how to look at settings that state whenever a phone isn't answered, etc, forward to a specific number. I wrote my "workaround" because under typical circumstances, whenever i tried a test, the cell number would show up on the phone I was calling, instead of my Google Voice number.

I had to flash my Cyano Mod 5.0.4.1 back on because my setup under Alpha 14 was getting flakey, AND...over the weekend I needed my camera to be working. For some reason, my home screen under Alpha 14 decided to lose that Clock widget that is symbolic for the HTC-Desire Home screen. It just disappeared on it's own. Several other minor annoyances not worth mentioning also pushed me to go back to the Cyano ROM. Of course, everything works correctly now. I have GV setup to prompt me which number to call out with and it works perfectly.

When another update comes out, that is either a bit more stable and or has the camera app working, I will switch back.

One major issue that has bugged me, but I hate thread drift to even mention.....Under Cyano 5.0.4.1 my Free Ram shows 268MB and thats with 23 processes in the background. I was only getting 95Mb free with approx 12 processes using the Alpha Desire Roms. I have advanced task manager BTW. Identical setups and a huge difference in available RAM. I can't explain that and it has been with the last few Alpha setups.

Here's a good hand, no 100 pages needed. Flash on the DESIRE build is not up to par, but, Paul, being the genus and loving man he is.. is going to put the STOCK nexus camera into the kitchen. I hope there is more to come. He never let's us down, so I wouldn't worry when.

Maybe alpha 15 can be a big improvement and a large success for him. Then once we get the official desire build were on our way..

@ Paul

P, I want to get the Desire for some odd reason, even if I have it on the Nexus. Will this be worked on since we took everything from it. Meaning, can the US people get the upcoming UK release and handle it with the present builds, probably the same we already have.

A little tip for those of you trying to pair your phone with the Mercedes Benz built-in bluetooth integration.

Rather than having the car pair with the phone, have the phone pair with the car. To do so, switch the MB Bluetooth to "External Authorization" (In my car, CLS550, go to the bluetooth phones menu and then click on options (next to the scan button). Once you do that, simply have the phone scan for devices and use the other trick of turning on "Discoverable" while it is searching. The phone will find the car and then ask you if you want to pair. I found out that only 0000 works as a password. The car will then ask you if you want to authorize and will pair and connect to the phone at that point.

Well, he has always had tricks up his sleeve. We might have a hybrid. Just use the stock camera for stability. Maybe add the features of the HTC version. If not. We just wait, but with a working camera.
