Guest treich007 Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 I just installed Alpha 17 and for some reason I am not able to connect to the internet. It cannot find any Mobile Networks. I then connected to my home wifi and it shows as connected but I still cannot access the internet. Is there something simple that I am missing?
Guest VJKotts Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 I have a question I couldn't find the answer to. If I buy HTC desire (Incredible or Supersonic) and I change the UI to stock Android 2.1 by disabling rosie (HTC sense UI), can I continue on the Android upgrade path when google updates 2.1 to 2.2 or do I have to wait for HTC to update? I am thinking that if it is possible to do this, HTC sense UI will no longer work on upgraded 2.2.
Guest Paul Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 New version online! :) No wipe required if coming from Alpha 17, wipe strongly recommended if coming Alpha 16 or older. Guest Raspster Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 SWEET! Can't wait! Did you get a chance to fix the backlights on the bottom buttons?
Guest cortez Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 (edited) @Paul - no APN's appearing on my device after flashing Alpha 18... is it possible that a wipe and reflash is the only way to get the APN list? (using Alpha 18 with addons) Edited March 22, 2010 by cortez
Guest GodDriven Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 My favorite part of desire... Bake right from the nexus... :) Thanks as always p.
Guest aaronpaws Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 Flashing right now Paul! We'll see how it goes. I'm coming from the latest Cyanogen, so I'm wiping everything and coming fresh. ;D
Guest muncheese Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 So here's something a bit fun... remember how on the earlier Alphas you could multitouch zoom out and click and drag to rearrange screens? Well, for some reason HTC took this out of the final release. I just put it back. We have something REAL Desire owners don't have. :) Coming up in Alpha 18! ;) P I think they removed it so simplify pinch to zoom. I noticed the pinch to zoom would not work because the ui thought I wanted to switch screens around. ex: you want to zoom in to the top left screen. Start pinch to zoom and sometimes it would jump into rearrange windows mode.
Guest jdoo Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 Paul, any thoughts on the 768mhz-ness of the Desire build? Aware of any other power saving differences between Desire and stock android 2.1?
Guest Thetechnogeek Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 (edited) Paul, you truly are a superstar, thank you. Quick question- is the SMS issue (not sending >160 chars) fixed in this release? Edit: Unfortunately, nope. Still a bug with the LED indicator behaving randomly too, but this is somewhat less of an issue than the SMS bug Edited March 22, 2010 by Thetechnogeek

Guest muncheese Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 Question, if I modify the prebake rom, do I have to resign it before updating?
Guest inf Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 There's been talk in other forums that these desire roms have been missing features which will definetely be on the final Desire phone. So it might be that the real Desire will have the rearranging of home screens. We had a demo event here last saturday with proto Desire and Legend, and both devices had the rearrangement of home screens.

Guest jdoo Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 Huh? Mine is running at 1GHz. PIf I disable SetCPU it appears that it sticks at 768mhz - according to 'quick system info'. Enabling SetCPU with a custom profile makes the phone do its usual range up through 1ghz
Guest Thetechnogeek Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 Not looked into that yet...? P Even though I'm already super appreciative of all your work on this ROM, I would be super-super appreciative if you can come up with a fix for the SMS issue- sadly I'm a txt maniac and not being able to send double length txts is a major headache for me. Now I just sound ungrateful :) I did try pushing old mms.apk's to no avail- the issue appears not to be with the sms app, but whatever handles its output. I'm guessing here of course!
