Guest stephen293 Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 (edited) This may sound weird, but is there anyway you can include the Gmail app from the stock rom in future releases? Find its UI overall smoother than the Desire. Awesome update overall. Thanks! Edited February 24, 2010 by stephen293
Guest djnutz Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 Been using this since the first beta and alpha 9 is awesome. Couple things and I'm curious if they can be added/modified or if we need another dump: 1. Display brightness when using the sensor seems brighter and more sensitive. 2. Are there screen animations when going back to the home screen and opening programs and can we include the framework for those? 3. Do you plan on adding the Neon optimization from Qualcomm the future that is currently in Cyans builds? 4. I know this one is stupid but for some reason I liked it - the "fancy" touch input animations from spare parts doesn't seem to work with this build either but it didn't with previous hero find either is I can remember correctly. Everything else such as button lights and Bluetooth work perfect. Thanks for all your hard work on this man fantastic job!
Guest Bladamir Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 Hello all! I am new to the forums, and I must say that I am very impressed with the work going on around here! Anyways I had a question maybe someone could help me with. (I am aware that I should check the entire thread to see if someone else asked...but 58 pages is a little excessive.). I am currently running the alpha 9 build that is explained in this thread, I was wondering if anyone had been able to load the kernel to get OC working properly, or if anyone had even tried. Thanks in advance for any answers!
Guest DiscoScan Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 (edited) A few thoughts about Alpha9, A little more available memory. Still need the Pershoot OC-UV-xtra kernel and .ko, but I understand that not everyone wants to OC their phone and in fact I don't have it installed on my latest cooked Alpha9. Things that I see as still buggy: 1. The small calender widget keeps saying Loading in the background. 2. Soft Key Light Up 3. Camera Flash (and 5.0) 4. E-mail widget genie? How do you view multiple accounts in one stream? 5. Still not sure what Contacts list the Favorites Widget is linked to. 6. BT is still hit and miss for me (But i don't use it regularly anyway). *FM radio would be pretty nifty but I think that's coming soon too. Edited February 24, 2010 by DiscoScan

It needs to be flashed/pushed each time you flash a new MoDaCo ROM because his Kernel overwrites Pershoot's (teknologist v. ubuntu).
Guest JonnyRockets Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 (edited) I'm using google voice and don't see that problem, but my outgoing calls are set to all use google voice, and it appears to go out from the regular phone number... Does Google voice need to be integrated to the rom image, rather than installed from the market? Same. Made a call today and other person didn't recognize my number since I always called with GV caller ID before. Is GV not compatible with Sense? Also, Settings -> Call -> Voicemail Service -> Google Voice -> it tries to change for 30 seconds or so and then "unable to change". Anyone else able to set this successfully? Guest cortez Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 (edited) @ anyone using the kitchen: is it possible to replace the Sense Lock screen with the pattern based lock screen from the Nexus One? also, has anyone added the Nexus One dialer and contacts to their build and had it successfully work on their devices? thanks! Guest 18.4009 Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 May have found a bug, when you use the original messaging app and type on the sense keyboard in landscape mode if you hit enter to send the message "the enter key on the actual keyboard itself" it will double send the text. If you back out of the keyboard and then hit send it doesn't double send. "I hope what I just said made sense."
Guest DiscoScan Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 I've notice one other error in Alpha9 and probably earlier versions if memory serves: 1. If you try to go into Wallpapers directly from the home screen... Both the "Photos" and "Live Wallpapers" are linked to Wallpaper Gallery. The Wallpaper Gallery menu option is linked to Live Wallpaper. 2. If you go into the personalization options, I don't see this problem under Home Wallpaper, but Wallpapers and Wallpaper Gallery are duplicated.

Guest thebiker Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 guys, beginner question alert here. i wanna partition my sd card.. what's the size should i set for the swap, ext2 and balance? i have 16gb mem card here.. thx I have same question. Please answer someone :( And the other question is why should we have to set ext2 partition? Is this a swap partition or storage partition? Which is the best file system for that? Ext2,ext3 or other? When I make ext partition all data on my Sd card will be deleted? Than you for the answer :(

When I make ext partition all data on my Sd card will be deleted? Than you for the answer :( It all depends on the size of your SD card. People use A2SD for applications install and moving things like dalvik-cache off of the internal flash, onto something with abit more free space to burn (ext partition). The best file system to use depends on what your kernel you are using supports. Almost all 3rd party compiled kernels support ext2 and 3 and more are supporting ext4 these days. For a 16gb card, between 512mb and 1gig will do almost everyone as it's the same size as the entire onboard flash, or double in the case of setting it to 1gb! You use a smaller, separate partition for swap space on your SD card, generally around 64mb. If you are using your SD card as one big fat partition currently, using Amon's partitioning utility WILL wipe that partiton and repartition the SD card from scratch, so BACKUP before you start. Guest Oriona Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 (edited) Thank you for the very quick answer! I can make 1 Gb ext partition I it necessary but I have to make the other for the swap with 64 Mb? Thats if you even want to use a swap partition. If i was you, make one anyway while your doing a full repartition of your SD card, that way its done and you wont have to revisit it again, weather you use it or not off the bat. Just take the default from Amon_RA's recovery image partition script. As for your ext partiton, for most people, 512mb is way more than they will ever use. Think about how many apps and alike that is! 512mb more of music space on your sd card will go alot further than 512mb of unused ext partiton space. His recovery image partitoner will create an ext2 partiton, you can then easily upgrade it to ext3 then ext4 through the menu. I run an 512mb ext4 part but alot are quite satisfied leaving it at a fairly supported ext3 partiton. Once you have read about the pro's and cons of each, you can make up your own mind what to move it up to. If you dont know then wikipedia is a good place to stat reading. Guest teknologist Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 It seems that it is OK but tethering application gives a warning for kernel incompatibility and it actually does not work. Well I looked at the googlecode page for android wired tether and they state it requires a kernel with: CONFIG_NETFILTER/CONFIG_IP_NF_IPTABLES and/or RNDIS Which we all have in the TCK 0.4 bundled in MCR 1.6 and MCR with HTC Sense Alpha9 Maybe it hasn't been tested with a 2.6.32 kernel. Can you confirm it does not work ? It seems it warns the first time but then it starts fine. Don't have a PC here to test RNDIS....
Guest taz5176 Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 hi like sense ui since hero was wondering if music playback ui same as hero, more importantly if phone in locked screen able to forward/reverse/pause tracks with this rom? thx

Guest ascito Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 Excellent. I'll add it to the kitchen once i've checked it out. P The built-in app works fine with Dock. It should start once you plug N1 to the Dock.

Guest Paul Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 Good morning friends! I've managed to get the kernel config from a Bravo, so i'm now diff-ing that against ours to see if it holds any clues to the Bluetooth issue. :( P
Guest taz5176 Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 thx all for reply on the music playback
Guest katermuc Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 the alpha9 is working out fine for me, but the trackball notification light is not lighting up at all(instead it's the tiny light on the top right side of the screen lighting up). also, the four touch buttons is not lighting up at all for me, even when i'm in a total dark room. same here. I miss the trackball light. Paul, can this be fixed?
