Guest willyaranda Posted June 24, 2010 Report Posted June 24, 2010 Battery usage is really a problem in 1.7. I don't know what to think about this version, despite the huge amout of hours spent creating it. I am a bit disapointed. don't be disappointed malez, you are working on this because you want. And you don't have to know everything to solve this problems, maybe it's just one tweak to a file, maybe it's something from Acer files, who knows? You have spent too much time with this release, and I think it's pretty good (I haven't had any problem with this ROM since the flashing). Maybe some idea from someone or a log could help you, but, meanwhile, stay calm, you've done such an amazing job!!

Guest Riekr Posted June 24, 2010 Report Posted June 24, 2010 Battery usage is really a problem in 1.7. I don't know what to think about this version, despite the huge amout of hours spent creating it. I am a bit disapointed. i simply think that there are more processes running (this explains havier memory footprint and the phone becoming hot reported by some user) but lcr team work is awesome ) now it seems that new kernels sources are coming, this will open the doors to many many improvements ;) about the remaining things i still prefer a basic/light version of lcr and a standard one like today so who wants (like me) can customize apps easier.

I've had problems too, but since I uninstalled every task manager I've gained lot of battery.
Guest devoluti0n Posted June 24, 2010 Report Posted June 24, 2010 Thanks for your answer Malez. I used to use the Xian rom before LCR, and he says we had to odex apps everytime we installed/updated one. Maybe something is different in this rom. could you please explain me what it is ? What odex really do to the apps ? I tough it was a kind of app caching... Thanks.
Guest bais Posted June 24, 2010 Report Posted June 24, 2010 Don't understand why people have problems. I have Zero problems, this ROM is faster, has Dolby Mobile and can freakin' read Divx/Xvid with any player. Only advice I can give you is if you definitely don't use Stream Launcher and LockScreen, then delete Acer Widget app and Acer Launcher with Titanium Backup.

When you odex an application, it will stored an Optimized Device EXecutable file in the same directory as the apk itself (with the script you have run). When running an app, system will run the odex file instead of the binary stored in the apk. That is the reason why when updating an app which has been odexed, you need to reodex. odex file use space. So when you have tried to odex you system, your system partition became full
Guest malez Posted June 24, 2010 Report Posted June 24, 2010 I've had problems too, but since I uninstalled every task manager I've gained lot of battery. Really interesting comment as i am trying to create a patch to remove stream stuff and fix battery usage. Could exactly tell me what you have done please ? I feel guilty and would like to apalogize

Guest Riekr Posted June 24, 2010 Report Posted June 24, 2010 (edited) a thing that i can confirm is that memory consumption is higher than in lcr1.6, how can i check if they are running? anyway with astro task manager i see breeze.launcher and ze.notification.. i also see a debuggerd (debug mode disabled), mediaserver (what is it? acer one?) driod.delsclock (uh?) there is also an alei switchpro... now i try to uninstall it since i don't want it to take 15,92mb for something i really don't use so often Don't understand why people have problems. Only advice I can give you is if you definitely don't use Stream Launcher and LockScreen, then delete Acer Widget app and Acer Launcher with Titanium Backup. ok i uninstalled Widget, AcerLauncher & Notification, now i've got 100Mb free ram at startup, i also got rid of most of the processes in my previous post. with "stock" lcr17 i was having about 60mb of free ram (if i don't remember wrong). here is the list of what i have uninstalled from the device or replaced from the market: AcerClockWidget.apk AcerLauncher.apk AndroidNotes.apk Clicker_hi.apk CorpCal.apk Email.apk HTC_IME_hi.apk MagicSmokeWallpapers.apk Maps.apk MoreLocale.apk MotoGAL.apk MusicA.apk Notification.apk Shazam.apk SpareParts.apk Talk.apk Task.apk VisualizationWallpapers.apk Widget.apk XT9IME.apk bootanimation.zip com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup.apk esFileExplorer.apk esTaskManager.apk jackpal.androidterm.apk org.adw.launcher.apk org.ouroborus.android.downloadcrutchlite.apk sendLog_1.0.2.apk setcpu.apk[/codebox] i've done it via some windoze batch script if anyone is interested (please take care when you eventually use them). Guest pharaoh_w Posted June 24, 2010 Report Posted June 24, 2010 Dear Malz Did u find someinthing with my internet problem on LCR1.7!(APN NAME: EMOME PROXY:10.1.1.1 PROT:8080 original browser cant work!)
Guest malez Posted June 24, 2010 Report Posted June 24, 2010 Dear Malz Did u find someinthing with my internet problem on LCR1.7!(APN NAME: EMOME PROXY:10.1.1.1 PROT:8080 original browser cant work!) The apn enorme is an mms apn for CHT, not an internet one. The internet one is <apn carrier="CHT" mcc="466" mnc="92" apn="internet" user="" server="" password="" mmsc="" type="default" /> If others apps and browser work, that is certainly that stock browser has a shorter time out than other apps and you connection is a bit laggy. Have you tried to wipe your dalvik-cache ?

You have uninstalled everything ! To eveyone : don't do this I will try to find the good ones For exemple you have removed all keyboards ? Which one do you use ?

Guest Rajit Posted June 24, 2010 Report Posted June 24, 2010 I don't know what to think about this version, despite the huge amout of hours spent creating it. I am a bit disapointed. Don't think like that, it's a great release... works very well for some (like me)... and not so well for other's... when it comes to software, there always some issues that arise along the way, and are sorted out as the software matures. So, don't be dissapointed.
Guest droug Posted June 24, 2010 Report Posted June 24, 2010 how can i delete system progams? like email or morelocale and others than I don't use.
Guest Quipeace Posted June 24, 2010 Report Posted June 24, 2010 how can i delete system progams? like email or morelocale and others than I don't use. http://android.modaco.com/content/acer-liq...d/#entry1203728 That should help. In case you're wondering what ADB is, it's a tool that comes with the android SDK ;)
Guest gengaro86 Posted June 24, 2010 Report Posted June 24, 2010 Really interesting comment as i am trying to create a patch to remove stream stuff and fix battery usage. Could exactly tell me what you have done please ? I feel guilty and would like to apalogize Removed esTaskManager and esFileManager (both were symlinked in /data if I remember right), uninstalled Taskiller Full (which I previously installed), and removed some other apps like MotoGAL, .. I've noticed that the Task Managers were using lot of CPU, both es and Taskiller, monitoring them with top they were > 60% for most of the time, probably they don't like something in the new libraries of Stream. FIY I'm using everything from stock Android UI except the Stream-like notifications (which I find more useful). BTW, still doing some tests and stressing the battery, I'll open a bug in a few hours.
Guest demolition23 Posted June 24, 2010 Report Posted June 24, 2010 WOW!!! I just uninstall notifications!! My liquid now is REALY fast!!
Guest malez Posted June 24, 2010 Report Posted June 24, 2010 I do with titanium backup, is the same? The same. Symlink Target apk will also be removed from data on reboot. But titanium only displays applications. It is safer if you are not familiar with direct apk managing
Guest malez Posted June 24, 2010 Report Posted June 24, 2010 Thank you all for your help. I really appreciate.
Guest gllandalf Posted June 24, 2010 Report Posted June 24, 2010 i had the battery drain problem with 1.7 until i did this: - in settings i switched to acer UI, the liquid rebooted twice and i had full acer UI - then in settings i switched to android UI, idem the liquid reboted twice and i had full android UI i the process i had no acer stuff any more and it rules since, battery usage is normal! i never changed anything in LCR_UI.txt
Guest natostanco Posted June 24, 2010 Report Posted June 24, 2010 for me too, just switched back to android ui everything is fast as before and doing a killall with es task manager i get 110mb free ram
Guest droug Posted June 24, 2010 Report Posted June 24, 2010 but if you do kill all, all apps that you need will start again??
