How to Upgrade Programs Built Into the Rom of i920

So there are numerous programs I want to update that are built into (at least I think so) the ROM of the phone. Programs such as Facebook, Windows Marketplace (with latest version you can now install programs to the storage card), Skype and one other I can't think of at the moment, all have new versions out there. But for all these programs I can't manually remove them under Settings / Remove Programs. If I install these programs what happens? Will I end up with two versions of each?
