So, m8... since I'm going to use PointUI again, should I have to install PointSense aswell?

In my opinion, yes. BUT there are obviously people who like the standard layout of PointUI, so if that's you, then obviously that's fine :-P. There's a very interesting thread where some of the users have developed a Meizu M8 theme for it, which looks promising. I've tried it, and although it's very cool, it has a number of niggly little bugs that (for me) make it not ready for daily use. Go browse through the pages at http://communitu.pointui.com for the themes.

@ Gazza;

It's just the standard WinMo messaging app, but the chef of that ROM has gone and tweaked quite nicely to make it look similar to the iPhone.

@ Abqcub;

Setting up new widgets is fairly simple... you just copy paste the files into your Home2 folder (close PointUI first). Generally, there will be some files (.cs files) that will need to be put into Home2 -> Common (note, some widgets will need u to overwrite some of the existing .cs files, so always backup all of your current files), and there will be a whole folder (eg. "Messaging") that will need to go into Home2 -> PointSense -> Widgets. Once those are in there, restart PointUI, long press on the screen where u want the widget (u'll probably need to add a new screen), then select the widget.

I've personally had major troubles getting the "PointSensePhoto" widget to work, but the others seem ok.

@ lupus_hegemonia;

S2U2 version 2.30 is the most current version. It's great, no bugs that I've found, and has heaps of cool features. Works great on my 6.5 ROM, son not sure about 6.1 (I assume it'll be fine).

As for your UI, M2D is a more stable app (and even when it crashes, it re-launches itself), but PointUI is (imo) more flexible, customisable, and simply better looking. The difference between free and pro... no idea. I have been using Free forever, and the only thing it does is ask me to activate it each time I restart PointUI or soft reset my phone. This only happens once each restart, and I just click "Cancel" then start using it as normal. Have a look on their site for more info I guess.

Hope this helps guys.

interestin hearing that it works for you joason07. Ive read from many different places that pointui tends to eat alot of ram, more than M2D, and that battery life becomes poor! Wats ur Ram like at the mo?

Yeah it's not exactly a Lite program, but it doesn't hinder anything I need to do. Currently running with

Total 99.68

In use 57.91

Free 41.77

Which is more than some ROMs come standard, but still not excessive. Personal preference I guess.

First timer for pointUI, here's some of my findings:

1. disabling the UI in setting/home/item doesn't work instantly, cant change back to original titanium easily..

2. title under the icons are ugly, can this be tuned? or disable it to show only icon?

3. it's fast, gonna dig deep to find out more tuning to make this my second UI when i get bored with titanium

Hey mate, to fix the text under the icons, you can long press the left softkey arrow, then click customise, then go down and select "Font Preference" until it says GDI font. Restart PointUI and you're sweet, BUT... The GDI font preference slows down the animations in PointSense drastically... I prefer a fast UI with messy text, so it's really up to u :-P

The creator of PointSense has done a LOT of work to the base PointUI interface. The cities list is now exceptional (MANY more to choose from), and you have a lot more options for SMS/email alerts. There's even a tweak that you can find that lets you slide down the top bar to view any current alerts (including number of unread SMS/emails). It's a lot better than the standard PointUI.

Essentially, if PointSense wasn't around, I wouldn't use PointUI...

Do you no longer have to manually edit the city files to fix the wrong time zones too? I really couldn't be bothered to do that, especially on a paid-for UI (more options than the free version).

I totally agree that the creator of Pointsense has done a great job at making PointUI comprehensive and usable, but I still don't think I will go back to it. With PointUI my phone constantly felt hot and had problems displaying Chinese and Japanese characters in messaging preview. SPB has a few more bells and whistles than I need (e.g. carousel view) and I would like the icons/widgets for the lifestyle screen to be bigger, but it has been the most user friendly and reliable UI for me.
