Droid Eris 2.1 leak

What I found was I did a wipe then installed and got as far as the boot screen. Rebooted the phone (took the battery out) and it started fine.

Having issues restoring my contacts using my backup. so restoring to make a new backup...

pitty as i wanted to give it a whirl

hes working on a no wipe version which should be up in about an hour so ill give that a go and hope for the best but i think ill be staying as i am untill a ROM is made from an official hero update

Spoke too soon... gave it another reboot and now even more of the HTC widgets have disappeared!! lol

Takes forever in the gallery as well... so slow loading thumbnails!

not a clue what logcat is (sorry im new to all this)

i did do a wipe but it just hung on the white htc screen fo about 15mins when i booted so pulled the battery and restarted the phone and it hung at the same place again for about 10-15mins so i pulled the battery again

ive since tried to wipe and flash a couple more times and just gave up as playing the waiting game got boring real quick

To get the 2.1 Android home screen instead of the crappy HTC one (I think it's crappy):

adb remount

adb shell


cd system/app

rm HtcLockScreen.apk

rm HtcLockScreen.odex

reboot

I'm reverting back to mcr. All I wanted to do was restore my contacts and sms. sms went fine but for some reason the contacts only seemed to say the back up contained 4 (should have been 78) and even failed at that? Was using mybackup pro

I've restored my sms fine and my contacts are through googly anyway???

I would do that too but as the only gmail accounts left were random garbage characters I don't really wanna use it for anything...

The 3.1 ROM has fixed the root problems...

Issues that I've picked up on:

1) Gallery (the 3D one)

2) MMS not sending/receiving even though settings are correct

3) HTC Widgets still disappearing/reappearing.

Has a nice bootup animation though! :(

And it's super super fast. I don't think I've ever seen my phone so fast... :(

You would have to wipe it for mcr 4 as it's based on 2.1 and not 1.5.

well I guess you're right, but changing your custom rom to a new coder's will make the process "dirtier", so to speak. I guess that if I wait for mcr4.0 the transfer will be cleaner than if I change rom brands.

any more cons to my point? or should I switch and test new customs with little problems? I already have titanium+nandroid backups.
