On my Omnia 2, whenever Outlook automatically checks for new email, the messaging app physically opens and pops up to the front of the screen, every single time. It doesn't matter whether there's new mail or not, it just opens and jumps to the front of the screen as soon as the checking process begins. On other WinMo devices I've owned, this has NOT happened. What setting can be changed to disable this behaviour? (other than leaving the messaging app open all the time, which I don't want to do).

It must be possible since no other Windows PPC of mine has ever done that. They were all capable of checking in the background and just updating the Today screen new message indicator silently.

Any help...?

Same happens on my Omnia, but only top and bottom bars of messaging application appears and stays on the screen. Are you using SPB Mobile Shell or standard Today screen?

I'm using SPB Mobile Shell 3.5 and I get the same effect as you do with the top and bottom bars remaining. However if I select "Show Today" from within SPB to bring up the regular Today screen and wait for the automatic mail check to occur, in that mode I see the entire Outlook messaging app appear and stay onscreen after the checking process has completed. It remains in the forefront until I manually close it with the X button. In either mode it's very annoying and there has to be some was to disable that behaviour.

Me too, SPB 3.5. It is rather annoying as it can happen at any time like when I'm driving with igo8 running.

I'm having the same issue, also using SPB Shell. There must be a registry edit...

This is happening more and more now. The messaging app pops up constantly. I'll be using the camera, reading the news, trying to make a call, etc. and the Outlook or messaging screen showing the list of all my current emails jumps right out in front.

I've been digging around for some kind of setting (in the registry or elsewhere) that could influence this, but to no avail.

As the earlier poster mentioned, it seems to be happening when the program goes to check for new mail.

Very strange.

Me too... at first it was just the taskbar and menu bar at the top and the bottom -- annoying, but the main window area of the screen was still active with SPB shell...

I added a new email account (started a new job), and now the entire app pops up constantly in the middle of doing things. It's obviously a notification issue. Anyone know how to shut off new mail notifications completely? I think this would solve the problem, and as I have indicators on my home screen for that anyway, I'd be fine with it off.

Have you disable the email notification?

Setting -->>sound setting-->Notification sound-->New email msg -->uncheck display msg on screen.
