Guest babyjosef17 Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 *heads up, I just poured my heart out. The only important thing I said, and asking, it in BOLD BIG FONT* I love my Omnia II. I really do. You can read back to all my post here and see how I love my O2. Almost to the point i'm over protective when someone bashes our phones. :) But this is really driving me nuts and the only turn off so far, but of which is costing me quite a sum. I recently updated my mobile plan to include a 12GB data package. But it just turn me off how useless the o2 is when it comes to internet browsing. I have tried quite a lot of things already. I can free up my RAM up to 85MB at boot because of today off. I have tried Opera 9.5, opera 10 beta 3, opera 10 final, opera mini, IE, but all of them, can't really give me a good internet browsing experience. It's either too slow, which Is still ok. can stand it, but what I cant though, sometime the pages does not load at all with any browser and must reboot the device, which annoys the hell out of me because after reboot, i end up loosing 5-10% battery life. (or the meter says so) I still have stock 6.5 rom from singapore. already 6.5 when I bought the phone I have never yet, and have not yet considered changing my ROM cause of the fear of waving my warranty... till now. But I have to ask first, will changing my ROM increase dramatically the internet browsing speed. If so, please help to suggest which one to choose and the most stable for internet browsing to the point that it's now usable? For me usable would mean, I do not fear anymore of clicking any link on the webpage I am surfing because I fear it will just take too slow to load so I end up not reading all topics and just skips to the one I want to know first, until I can get to office and surf the net there. To give you an idea what i'm talking about go to www.allkpop.com this is the site I want to enjoy when browsing in my omnia Hays... I really love my omnia, I really do. I do not want to loose all the features my phone has, AMOLED, wide support of video file types, great sound wow HD form touch player, great video quality and support for h264, and great still/video cam. Just to have a phone with great internet browsing. But slowly, i'm willing to sacrifice the phone just for the internet. I really don't want to! help! ;) :P ***sorry for the long ranting.
Guest Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 Does it work OK when using PIE? Are you sure it's not the 3G connection failing?
Guest jebise Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 my webpages load fine, a little slow at times but work. The only issue i had was going to pages that have lots of pics and flash, but that was solved with opera 10. I think by the look of things you need a hard reset. I hard reset every time i flash the phone and if i don't i get many weird problems. Even though you are still on stock ROM a hard reset might help. Another major thing that helps me fix my internet after a flash is "restore connections" in the samsung setting maybe that will help. As for flashing different ROM's i would recommend you use sorg tool (dskdump) and create a backup of your PDA that way if it needs repair you can just flash back and send it in.
Guest unholygid2006 Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 Stock rom from sg... so i assume its J9 rom.... which has a serious memory leak :) Perhaps u can browse the forum on how to flash safely and perhaps download J9 rom as well in case you need to revert back to stock rom.
Guest babyjosef17 Posted March 19, 2010 Report Posted March 19, 2010 Everything seems OK now. I have hard reset about 3 times already and the problem still exist. What solved it for me was first, removing all instaces of opera 10 and whatever files it has with it from the SD As I hard reset, I have 90MB of free device storage, so I installed Opera 10 there. And lastly, as I am still puzzed howcome, I went to settings then restored connections. Which is funny because a hard reset should have solved this earlier right? In any case, after all that internet is back and faster than ever. Maybe becuase opera 10 in now in device which made it faster. Enabled opera turbo any now everything is OK. Im not that worried anymore about the loading of my favorite website (www.allkpop.com) as someone mentioend that image heavy and script heavy sites can really be slow. Thanks everyone and sorry for the ranting. HAH! Nexus one, not yet baby, not yet, My omnia II is still the best. :)
Guest ray1234 Posted March 19, 2010 Report Posted March 19, 2010 yes, I'd think right from the start it is something wrong with your config. Browsing with PocketPC is not the fastest, but it should be acceptable, unless there is a lot of flash on the webpage. If you really want lightening fast browsing, try Mach5Web. That is the fastest browser I have used on PocketPC. It uses similar technology as Opera Mini, so the webpage passes through the company's proxy - security is a concern, I wouldn't use it for internet banking. In terms of webpage loading speed, it is second to none. Pages are loaded as fast as I load them on my desktop PC, I don't know how they do it.... Opera mini is supposedly using similar technology, but the speed is nowhere near Mach5Web. However, Mach5Web doesn't have fit-to-screen techonology like Opera Mini, so as fast as it is, it is still quite useless for real browsing.
