Standard Samsung JC2 but with WinMo 6.5.5?

I am sticking with standard Samsung ROM that has all the Samsung apps including the Samsung Titanium plugins etc. I think an ideal ROM for me would be a JC2 ROM but the winmo version being a recent and stable version of WinMo 6.5.5 that has the start button at the bottom. Any obsolete apps such as Opera 9 or old versions of Facebook etc would be good to have removed as current versions can be installed to Storage Card later. Would this be something easy for a chef to cook up and would anyone else be interested in a ROM like this?

This is the kind of ROM I've been hoping for too.

The 6.5.x layout with the start menu at bottom appeals to me.

I thought I wanted just stock ROM but with WM6.5 replaced by 6.5.x. no other customizing needed. But then you mentioned Opera - where there is a newer version available - and it made me realise I probably really would like a bit of customization. Mainly by removing any third party apps that we are likely to see upgrades for ie. Opera and would there be any others? That would be nice but not vital, I would be grateful for what anyone cooked up, I wouldn't care if all the stock apps were retained.

Cheers,

Marty.

Ok, that's two of us then. It wouldnt be a big problem if the old version of Opera or other obsolete apps was in there still - that's what we have now. Hopefully someone with some cooking skills might be interested in putting one of these ROMs together. I have no idea if a ROM like this would be hard to create or not :)

And with a multilanguage csc such as the italian itvjc1.csc

+1, that's the kind of ROM I would also like to have, as you can't really re-install all of the Samsung apps on a Lite version (or at least I haven't seen all the required cabs around here).

I agree with you, this is the best kind of ROM under my point of view. And also KSTAN is the one who has been cooking the best ones, together with Gary Crutcher.

Let's wait a little bit to see if someone has time to do it or if we get a new ROM from Samsung, maybe JD1? that we can combine with WM 6.5.X, it's great to see how Samsung and people here in the forum keep improving WM and our phones. I don't think I will be installing or looking for a WM 7 phone at least in a year or more, long live WM6.5.x!!

Looking in the forum, I would say this is the ROM you are looking for:

http://www.modaco.com/content/i8000-omnia-...ed-22-mar-2010/

22 Mar 2010: JC2/23549 Lite version

ROM specifications:

- ROM based WM 6.5.5 build 23549 + JC2 (ZHJC2 Chinese version)

I think that if using this one, the standard winmo dialer might have to be used instead of the samsung one or else there will be that vertical scrollbar problem. Is the scrollbar problem something that will always happen if mixing the samsung dialer with wm6.5.5 (because of the resizing of taskbar etc in wm6.5.5)?

dial panel scroll bar issue has already been fixed.

The rom above is also a lite one.

We'd like a full version of the JC2 , combined with wm 6.5.5 !!!!!!!

I think that, if you have a look at the programs you really use, the lite versions of the ROMS with 4 or 5 cabs added for the most important programs would do 99% of the job. That way you don't need the full Samsung ROM, save space and RAM.

Just my point of view.

FYI, the CABS created from JC2 can be found here

By installing them to the lite ROM, it should function just as well as what a stock ROM can do.

i'm also looking for this rom !

Agreed: I'm looking for a stock ROM, complete with all languages, with JUST the WinMo version updated, but apparently everyone just pumps out stripped down Lite roms, for which I have really no interest :P
