Guest dazedandconfused Posted March 24, 2010 Report Posted March 24, 2010 i want to mod my phone i have a omnia i910 with windows mobile rom version v.cf03.20961. i'm new to the pocket pc world and have been doing some research. i see that alot of the people on the forum install new roms, i'm not the best with pc's so i'm cautious as what rom to use. i've also seen the shells that change the layout of the phone. i have a friend who is a computer whiz and he said he would help me install a rom if i decided to go that way. so i'm asking for some advice, do i a: install a new rom, and what is the favorite on this forum b: just get a mobile shell c: install a new rom and shell if i install a new rom does that void any warranty? and because i bought my phone off ebay do i even have a warranty? THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP it is obvious that if you upgrade to unofficial rom your warranty become void. i would suggest that during warranty period u stick to the spb or other UI like wad or pointui
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted March 29, 2010 Report Posted March 29, 2010 As you bought the phone from ebay it is probably over a year old so there would not be a valid warranty on the device. If it is less than a year then it may be covered by manufacturers warrany but trying to claim on it if you needed to may be another matter.
Guest amitsharma.atc Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 try spb mobile shell 3.5.4 its great thanks

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP my suggestion is to test all of the three ways above and collect experience. I have no idea about EBAY's device warranties(because the owner of EBAY is an ira... sorry...I wont discuss politic matters here...) anyway if you got any cool roms please inform us though we're very thirsty! good luck.
Guest andrew.mazlim Posted September 8, 2010 Report Posted September 8, 2010 To me, it's worth the risk (warranty) to flash a custom rom. When I bought it (about almost two years ago), I wanted to... throw it outside my window!!! Didn't like almost anything of it... So, before I... do that throw, mates of mine told me to take the desision (finaly!) and flash one "cooked" rom. Next thing after the flashing... was to wondering, if I bought a NEW/DIFFERENT device!!! (THAT much difference! And that's why, I can't understand users here - or elsewhere - asking official roms to flash! Except the warranty issue, to me, there is no point to using official roms.)

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP Well I'll start from the bottom :( d: If you bought the phone from a seller from your country and was new then yes you have warranty... If not new or from other country the chances are 50-50... c: If you want a Shell (I'm SPB fanatic :( ) Then install a LITE if not ULTRA Lite ROM to have the power of the h/w of our phone... b: I didn't like it with full ROMs as they left little RAM and almost NO SPACE in the MAIN STORAGE... a: Go for it and the FAVORITE is the one YOU'LL LIKE most... :P:) All the ROMs are favorites of the one or the other user... :( Good luck mate...
