Guest babyjosef17 Posted March 30, 2010 Report Posted March 30, 2010 As the title said, are you ready. The Galaxy S seems very promising plus the eye popping 90 triangle whatchamacallit graphic sounds so amazing. Not to technical all I know is that is can play very smooth high res games, even better than the iphone. With that alone it will be a big upgrade from the o2. Plus the Snappy UI of android. As there are no news about an Omnia 3, which would likely be windows 7 anyway and will be release late this year or even next year. Samsung Galaxy S maybe the next phone that we need which is comming very soon, a phone that we will not loose all the features that we love from our o2, plus "may" get rid of all the annoyances that we have on our o2. What do you guys think? Ready to go DRIOD ?
Guest Danung Posted March 30, 2010 Report Posted March 30, 2010 As i found myself bought Omnia II as a wrong time; less update in WM, some of technical defects. i will buy Galaxy S and skip from WM to Android
Guest silencer22 Posted March 30, 2010 Report Posted March 30, 2010 there isnt many high quality games for android at the moment.. so if u getting becos of games, probably checkout their marketplace before committing ur purchase
Guest DunKnow Posted March 30, 2010 Report Posted March 30, 2010 I would say if we keep on comparing newer devices against our Omnia II, of course we will always feel like changing our Omnia II. Who knows maybe tmr omnia 3 pops up with better hardware than galaxy s. I am generally happy with my omnia II, it can do everything to fulfill my needs.
Guest babyjosef17 Posted March 30, 2010 Report Posted March 30, 2010 (edited) @DunKnow Point Taken. Ur right about that. Not really drawn to the galaxy because of the games. I'm really drawn to the Super AMOLED. Looking at youtube vids, the screen is just amazing! 720p video recording is also a great hing for me. I'm pretty sure it will not be a spectacular video. But it's nice to know that if you wanted to, you can video 720p. Plus I have always said that my next phone will be a 16M color phone. Cuz I have never experienced 16M colors yet ever on a phone. I did not really like the current amoled 16m color that is currently out now. (I think its just nexus right) and the up and coming until this Galaxy S. I'm happy with my O2 and this is for keeps for me. If I can afford it, I would really like not to sell this to buy a new phone. Not really interested in any phones, until Galaxy S. The only thing that is left now, is the price. Hoping that samsung would still stick with it's competitive pricing. That is one thing I love with their phones. :P Edited March 30, 2010 by babyjosef17

Guest crasy666 Posted March 30, 2010 Report Posted March 30, 2010 in addition, you should keep in mind, that the i9000 has no LED flash, the pic quality from teh i8000 isn't the best, compared to other Samsung phones or my old Nokia N82. So with no flash and again thinner, the qualtiy must become worser. That is fact, the optical situation is worser and no (even a bad) LED flash. last but not least (but this is a general Samsung issue) the support is worse, you don't get (at least here in Germany proper support), official FW updates either over PC Studio nor the Samsung Service points. If I transfer this to such a new phone like the i9000, I am getting really afraid, if I should buy again a Samsung. the only thing what makes me happy is the Modaco forum (especially Secany) for his ROMs and the support here, that makes the out of the box buggy OII much more useable, and quite ok for a WM phone. but pls. think of the "normal" user, which don't find this forum and don't like to flash "semi official" ROMS at there on risk!
Guest surenz Posted March 30, 2010 Report Posted March 30, 2010 there isnt many high quality games for android at the moment.. so if u getting becos of games, probably checkout their marketplace before committing ur purchase I'm in opposite opinion. Look that: In fact I don't know quality WinMo games :P The other disadvantage - the lack of flash is not so big, but I used it for torch, so that is that I'll miss :(
Guest babyjosef17 Posted March 30, 2010 Report Posted March 30, 2010 point taken on the No Flash. Yeah that was quite a surprise having no flash. I really hope they have news on Omnia III. They should have already. Oh actually no. that would not be a smart move om samsungs part. They no one might buy the galaxy, well not us omnia lovers anyway.
Guest babyjosef17 Posted March 30, 2010 Report Posted March 30, 2010 I think I h ave to disagree on that. the lack of flash is a clear dis advantage. I remember back in Omnia I that is why thing I was always wondering, I wonder if my night pix will be better with a dual flash. It got answered with my Omnia II, and yes, the flash, in medium distance is great when taking photos with a person. Her face is brightened up nicely. Altough in omnia I, night capture is a bit better than Omnia II

What do you guys think? Ready to go DRIOD ? I don't get it. I REALLY don't get it. Are you recruiting people or something? Because that's what it looks like to me. I see no point advertising another phone which is totally different and on another platform. You know, people paid good money for their phone. The answer is NO. Every phone has its flaws and the Android platform is too new and has no maturity atm. So it might look shiny now, but once you start using it you'll see what you're missing. Could we please have a moderator have a look at these threads with people advertising for other phones/platforms and move them in another place? Thank you
Guest hkwildboy Posted March 30, 2010 Report Posted March 30, 2010 (edited) A phone is only as good as the person who knows how to operate it. Just like an expensive camera doesnt help someone to take better pictures. As of today, there are many more softwares available for WM platform than Android. Surely, everyone has different needs. But if you think you're not happy with the flexibility of all the softwares provided for WM, I doubt you'll be happier using an Android. Edited March 30, 2010 by hkwildboy
Guest CSMR Posted March 30, 2010 Report Posted March 30, 2010 For me, Android is not yet good enough: doesn't have full Exchange capability, and Onenote won't be on it for a long time Windows Phone 7 has removed UI customisation and file system access. So I'll probably stick with the Omnia II for years.
Guest jebise Posted March 30, 2010 Report Posted March 30, 2010 omnia is a great phone samsung just need to tighten up the software so it runs better.

Thank you Sorry if my topic was not that clear for you but in my defense, I AM NOT ADVERTISING. I merely created a topic so that we can exchange our knowledge about each platform, and also to share any knowledge that anybody may have on the up and comming samsung phone. With this we may be able to compare each pro and cons of the phone. And by hearing each persons opinions of why of why not switch to the galaxy, it can clearly help the hundreds of reader here in modaco to decide for themselves whether it will be worth it. I chose to post it here in the i8000 thread as I am targeting any person, such as myself, who is having thoughts, or seeking more professional info about the galaxy phone. It's posted here as I want professional opinion of fellow i8000 user. If I post in a galaxy forums, surely I will get answers that is more positive for the galaxy. I want opinions of fellow owners of omnia II and hear their thoughts. Hopefully this clears up any issue great sir. Edited March 31, 2010 by babyjosef17
Guest chokia Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 (edited) Im still in the state of indecisive between these SUPER AMOLED phones But according to Eldar (mobile-review), both are not samsung most powerful phones this year. So i bet Samsung saves it for either Symbian (like they did to OmniaHD) or WP7 (perhaps Omnia3 / Omnia1080p) this summer. Android, even with so many applications and games, most of them are crap and poor graphic. And the worst thing these applications and games must be installed in my device (instead of sd card or my storage like OmniaII). SenseUI for Android phone is like PointUI theme. No where as advanced as Sense2.5 like we have in LEO2 beta 2 ROM. Android for OmniaII is almost complete in couple of days, perhaps i'll be walking around with dual boot OS Omnia II in the next couple of weeks. I'm hoping WP7 have the same ability to dual boot too, so i can have the most powerful WP7 hardware with WP7 and Android OS. I really want projector phone like Beam with 4" Super Amoled Screen that dual boot WP7 and Android. Most importantly made by Samsung. Cant trust any other manufacturer that can give super hardware with superior camera. Edited March 31, 2010 by chokia

Why change a good phone with a lot of possibilities/options? Edited March 31, 2010 by vlgligor

Guest babyjosef17 Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 (edited) dual boot on omnia 2. that is something I would really like to have. at least with that I can test out android first just to have an idea what it has offer me. One thing I forgot to mention too is capacitive screen. never had an iphone yet but when I test demo units. not being able to use my fingernails is quite a different feel for me. Now i can have that "portable screen" with pico projector phone. Just beam it on the wall, on the table , on my boss whiteboard, on my fren's shirt , anywhere . fun and effective. I think projector phone is not made to replace 42" Full HD TV or even full-fledged boardroom projector just yet but to prevent one falls into unparalled beauty and charm of carrying lcd monitor, tablet pc or even iPad around. So If you think the way i do then it will be useful.
