Guest mohamed454 Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 Hi and what's new with this version plz
Guest Quipeace Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 OMAI! I'd love to see some before-after benchmarks/tests . What exactly does NEON mean? like an addon instruction set or something?
Guest LoganX78 Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 Xian, can you add that script ( http://android.modaco.com/content/acer-liq...-05-based-roms/ ) by default in your next rom? And: is still there the problem of sms slow (slow with base apk and also handcent when there are a lot of sms)?
Guest nameless' Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 (edited) OMAI! I'd love to see some before-after benchmarks/tests :D. What exactly does NEON mean? like an addon instruction set or something? (Correct me if i'm wrong) Yes, NEON is a part of NDK (Native Developpement Kit, allow devs to write low-level code with specific instructions depending on the cpu capabilities). It can improve speed, and allow devs to use C/C++ code to write some portions of an app. (Note : Simplified explanation :() Nice work xian, hope you'll be able to port Froyo on our Liquid  Cheers Edited May 25, 2010 by nameless'
Guest Quipeace Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 (edited) Yeah, I know about the NDK, I'm planning to use it in an app I'm developing (a prime number generator/tester/benchmark in case you're wondering). I found a clear explanation here: http://www.arm.com/products/processors/technologies/neon.php I can't wait Xian! XD Edited May 25, 2010 by Quipeace
Guest xian1243 Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 (edited) I've included the script in my ROM. Testing v0.7d (it's the bugfix + JIT), my connection is really slow... sorry for the wait. I skip releases, because in my work folder, every major change gets a new folder... so I prefer uploading the latest. :D Edited May 25, 2010 by xian1243
Guest Quipeace Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 Seems logical  Thanks for the effort Xian, really anxious to test it out :D.
Guest m4ss Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 so you'll wait to release directly the .7d from .7a ? No links for .7c It's awesome to see you again and "active" !! The Jit implementation will be awesome if goes all ok !!! Thanks, you are a and "the" real developer rom :D
Guest jayziac Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 Great job Xian. Just curious if you're using the JIT universal install mentioned in another thread from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=659756 Or maybe it could provide helpful hints. Glad to see we have talented developers like you working on the Liquid here.
Guest mohamed454 Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 Some more testing... Ok but can you give us a changelog please .
Guest bais Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 Does JIT work? You may try with Linpack  . Waiting for the release, because this sounds great!
Guest xian1243 Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 (edited) I will update OP when ready. Added 3G/GPS/Video/Jpeg/CPU/GPU optimizations from latest Cyanogen Nexus One MOD 5.0.7, JIT, replaced stock maps with latest brut MOD, fixed SFR french APN, fixed FC's, fixed Sense Live Wallpaper, updated Arabic and Hebrew support, etc. The ROM uses 6mb more ram and takes 5mb more space, but the JIT performance boost is too great to ignore. Edited May 25, 2010 by xian1243
Guest mohamed454 Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 Wow, what a great job ! I hope it'll work fine and you'll release it soon, very soon ! And xian next time if you need "beta-tester" i'm here !
Guest drigerott Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 nice work Xian ^^ great job.. keep working on  thank you very much for your work^^
Guest xian1243 Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 I'm going to include a separate update.zip for those who don't like JIT... just in case it breaks certain apps (I believe helixlauncher doesn't like it, but I used LauncherPro, so no problem there).
Guest ahsid Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 I'm going to include a separate update.zip for those who don't like JIT... just in case it breaks certain apps (I believe helixlauncher doesn't like it, but I used LauncherPro, so no problem there). So just to make it clear this update is using Froyo ? or Eclair with JIT ?
Guest Seth Cold Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 this looks promising  thanks xian
Guest wytek Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 So just to make it clear this update is using Froyo ? or Eclair with JIT ? if i'm not wrong this is eclair jit, he work on porting froyo
Guest azuwis Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 I've included the script in my ROM. Testing v0.7d (it's the bugfix + JIT), my connection is really slow... sorry for the wait.
