Guest bluhound Posted April 1, 2010 Report Posted April 1, 2010 (edited) My Omnia II screen does not automatically turn off when it is plugged to the PC. I have this problem since the very first day I got my phone. This problem persists on all the firmwares which I have tried on (from the original IG1 to my current JC2 EDIT: Even till JH1). I have checked the screen timeout settings for "External Power", it says 5 minutes to screen power off but it never happens. When I plug my phone into the PC, the screen turns on and I then press the lock button to switch off the screen but when a notification comes in, the screen switches on and stays that way. However, when I set my USB setting to Mass Storage, the screen turns off after 5 minutes. Anybody have this problem? It is getting annoying as every morning when I get up, the phone is warm with the screen on. :P ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 26-09-2010 EDIT: After several months, I have now found a solution. The main reason the screen does not turn of is due to ActiveSync but as I use it frequently to update my contacts and e-mail, I need it to be running in the background. To solve this problem, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\Timeouts\ and change 'ACUserIdle' value (Default is 0) to your desired number (in seconds). This setting turns off your screen after your set setting once the screen goes dim. (e.g. I set it to 120 and I set my "Turn of backlight" in Samsung settings to 1 mins. This means in 3 mins the screen will turn off regardless of what application I have running in the background). Edited September 26, 2010 by bluhound

Just a thought...........
Guest bluhound Posted April 2, 2010 Report Posted April 2, 2010 I suspect that too but I can't seem to find a way to disable ActiveSync. Every time I kill the app, it pops out again.
