Guest Jamesbcd Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 Debranded my Orange Desire using this guide, thanks. Everything working as it was, including the 3G issues..
Guest UnitedWeFall Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 (edited) Hey all, I have a quick question. I have the Telstra Australia version of the Desire, running 1.16.841.1. Can I still do this upgrade? And this is probably a stupid question, but is using the generic ROM going to affect what band the phone runs on? I ask this because the Telstra version runs on a different band to most other Desire models. Cheers. Edited May 23, 2010 by UnitedWeFall
Guest pampyre Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 Just wanted to post to say thanks alot guys. I've successfully debranded my Orange Desire, and I'm much happier with it. Have noticed 3G drops to HSDPA as soon as data starts to transmit. Don't think this happened before debranding. I use wifi predominantly and am not going to fret too much until Froyo tbh.
Guest LuvmyDesire Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 I've downloaded and run the RUU, this only debrands it doesn't it? So I still have to go through the rooting process, if not please correct me cause I don't want to go through the rooting process again if I don't have to! Thanks. Great forum btw, thanks Paul.
Guest UnitedWeFall Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 (edited) I get a "wrong bootloader" error when I try to do this.. Bootloader is 0.75 I think. Does anyone know which RUU I need to use? I found a few more here... http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-desi...tc-desire-roms/ Trying to flash the Telstra Australia Desire. Thanks for any info. It doesn't drop from 3G to HSDPA, it goes up from 3G! lol. In the Orange ROM they called it 3G+, when that's really HSDPA.
Guest Parax77 Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 This seems to be an issue on a number of networks (Orange, T-Mob & 3), full 3G signal but no data transfer until it jumps back onto HSDPA... Didnt you have the issue with the stock Orange ROM? I debranded straight away so cant remember, but I have read that others have had the issue with the Orange ROM also... 3G does work sometimes in certain areas, but most of the time it doesnt... The Hero seems to suffer from the issue also... Sorry I cant say if I had the same issue, as I like you, I also debranded immediatly, no point in wasting time with setup etc if its going to be wiped... Would be good to hear from anyone who has not debranded yet... Realised that H > 3G, so now not concerned about that, but I have noticed that I cannot get a data connection at all when out of 3G coverage (this is what gives connection failed messages) not sure if this is oranges' standard? if so it sucks! having come from O2 where you can get data on any connection albeit a bit slow. now if only they could get there arse in gear and port my number! starting to remember why I left Orange all those years ago. Guest chrisfarrugia Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 Applied the geneic RUU successfully to my Orange UK Desire - Thanks Paul. If and when a system update comes along, like Build 1.21.405.2CL174215, will I need to go through this process again or will I just get the generic HTC updates from now on? chris
Guest DaveGrohl Posted June 24, 2010 Report Posted June 24, 2010 Damn it why didn't I read this sooner looks like I'm going to have to back everything up. Quick question though why do mobile phone networks still feel the need to tamper with phones and install crap that we don't need. Why can't they just leave them with stock roms or at least leave it at changing the homepage in the web browser. Sorry that turned into a bit of a rant it just annoys me lol
Guest protrecho Posted July 4, 2010 Report Posted July 4, 2010 Top guide! Goldcard built and ready to roll ... but, just wanted to ask a simple newbie question first. My phone (HTC Desire o2 branded) is currently running the 1.20.207.3 build. The build on the RUU is earlier than the current build on my phone. Are there differences? Second question, once de-branded, will I receive the Android 2.2 update sooner from HTC rather than having to wait for o2? Thanks, P.
Guest hazi1964 Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 (edited) Darn, this was supposed to be the easy bit for me. I rooted and then unrooted my desire as I was having a few little problems. Decided today to re root, however, I can't even debrand at the moment. I downloaded the above RUU file and ran it but got an error saying I had the wrong update utility please get the correct update utility. I am assuming it's because when I unrooted, the stock (tmobile) rom I used is now v 1.21 xxxx. When I used the above method originally, I had a lower rom version and a bootloader of 0.75. This changed to 0.80 after rooting and flashing a rom or two. Am I right in thinking I need a different RUU to the one above or should I create a brand new goldcard from my current version as opposed to using the original goldcard (which is what I have done and it didn't work). Thanks in advance for any tips on how to genericify my desire (again) so that I can root (again). Alison Edited June 3, 2011 by Paul
Guest EddyOS Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 If you're on 1.21 then you're already generified - just not rooted so you need to follow the r6 rooting guide again but using the download for HBOOT 0.80

But the boot animation etc is all tmobile. Thought that meant it was not only unrooted but ungenericified. It was a tmobile rom I flashed to unroot too.
Guest EddyOS Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 (edited) If your phone is running RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126984_sign d.exe then your phone is on HBOOT 0.80 and is generic. Does the T-Mobile screen come up after the HTC initial one or in place of it? OR you using RUU_Bravo_TMO_UK_1.21.110.4_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_127570_signe .exe? Guest hazi1964 Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 That is a branded rom, you need the WWE one. Thank you, I have now successfully debranded and rooted. For some reason though, I can't flash Modaco custom roms, can flash roms via Rom Manager, just not Modaco roms. Must be doing something wrong but can't work out what at the moment.
Guest lollypops Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 (edited) Hi there, Do I need to run all of this with the SD Card in my phone whilst it's plugged in? Do I type in all these codes into the phone or PC? Plus, I can't understand these instructions. Do I download these programmes onto my PC then put on SD card? How do I run the programme from my SD card on my phone?? Thanks Lauren Edited June 3, 2011 by Paul
