Oh and if I'm going to be keeping the phone I want to get a clear protector for it, really cheap via ebay....

Didn't you keep the protector on that came with the phone?Mine is still on and I don't have any problems at all using my phone.

Glass? Are you sure or is it just rumour? I have read reviews which say it is a plastic screen.

As far as I can tell it is plastic, as I've been able to melt part-way through it with a soldering iron; something I don't think would be possible if it were glass. ;)

i'm sure that it's not glass, but very very hard plastic. on a normal daily use you'll never get it scratched. i teared down the screen protector it came with out of factory on the first day and since then brought it everywhere in my pocket and didn't have any scratches on it. however, last weekend i was in a party and i made a big mistake: left it on a table overnight. in the morning i found it on the floor with the screen facing the ground. the outcome: one very very little scratch at the bottom of the screen, unnoticeable when the screen is turned on.

after all, my conviction is that if you don't drop your pulse down and kick it around all over the floor, you shouldn't be bothered about protectors as the screen is definitely much more sensitive without them.

I can confirm its definitely NOT glass ;)

Its worth removing dude, the screen that has been battered and thrown around in my drawer is still clean as when it was first removed! Very tough and scratch-resistant!

Are you sure you melted through the screen and not just through the factory screen protector bit? I would have sworn the screen was glass.

Either way, I've tried scratching it a bit with keys etc and had it without a protector for months with no sign of damage or scratches, so in my experience it's tough enough for daily use. Maybe not if you work in heavy industry or a soldering iron factory ;) but I doubt a flimsy plastic screen protector would survive that anyway...

Edit ^ Oh that sounds like a fairly thorough investigation if the phone is in bits ;) Sounds like it's confirmed that it's not glass then. Anyway it's tougher than any screen protector I've ever used.

The touchscreen performance *really* does improve when the plastic shield is removed.

Haha, yeah, it wasn't an intentional investigation... It started out as an "lets repair my Pulse screen as I like to think I'm good at repairing electronics! ....." Kinda went downhill from there on, ended up with my buying another Pulse ;)

At least I have a spare battery now...! ;)
