Guest Gary Crutcher Posted April 17, 2010 Report Posted April 17, 2010 (edited) How to add image to Settings/System/About screen. Tools needed: 1. Reshacker pkg 2. Recmod.exe 3. Reversmode.exe Tools are provided in about_tools.zip file about_tools.zip Assumptions: you have already created your custom logo.bmp (mine is 200 x 131) First of all: Always Make Backups How-to Steps: 1. Install Reshacker pkg into folder 2. Copy recmod.exe and reversmode.exe into same folder 3. Copy sys\Base_Lang_0409\shellres.dll.0409.mui folder into same folder as reshacker 4. Drag shellres.dll.0409.mui folder onto recmod.exe (it may seem like nothing happened, but it did) 5. In folder shellres.dll.0409.mui, you will find a file: shellres.dll.0409.mui - add a .dll to this file (ex: shellres.dll.0409.mui => shellres.dll.0409.mui.dll) 6. Move this file up one foler (same folder as recmod.exe) 7. Delete shellres.dll.0409.mui folder 8. Open reshacker 9. Open shellres.dll.0409.mui.dll 10. First, add your image (bmp format) 11. Select Action | Add a new resource 12. Click 'Open file with new resource' 13. Click on your logo.bmp (can be any name, BUT must be a bmp file) 14. Now fill in the boxes with Resource Name: 199, Resource Language: 1033 (Resource Name can be any unused number. Language 1033 is English) 15. Click add resource 16. Expand Dialog tree and open Dialog 14368 17. In the dialog, at the bottom, right mouse click and select 'Insert control' 18. Click on the picture of the tree image 19. In the caption box, type: 199 (the name our your logo.bmp) 20. Click OK 21. Expand the Dialog so you can see your logo. 22. Position is a bit tricky, but the last line of the dialog -has red star- shows the position. 23. Once you are happy with the position, close the dialog box - NOT the resource. 24. At the top, click 'Compile Script' 25. Click File | Save and then Exit 26. You are done with adding logo to resource file. 27. Drag shellres.dll.0409.mui.dll onto reversmode.exe - this will create a new folder: shellres.dll.0409.mui.dll 28. Open shellres.dll.0409.mui.dll folder 29. The 2 files we are interested in are: imageinfo.bin and S000 30. Copy/replace these files in your original sys\Base_Lang_0409\shellres.dll.0409.mui folder AFTER making a backup of this folder 31. If there is an imageinfo.txt file in the folder, delete it. 32. Now you are ready to build your rom. If your logo is not in the correct position you want, just re-open the shellres.dll.0409.mui.dll file and redo steps 3-9, open the dialog and re-position the image.
