Guest nuelo Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 I was showing off my Omnia II screen to a buddy yesterday. Proudly displaying the "AMOLED" TFT 480x800 resistive screen in the sunlight (even though it is not as bright as I would like it to be. Then he pulled out his Blackberry! Holy s**t! The screen was crystal clear and made my Omnia II screen look like crap! WTF?!? Why is the Blackberry screen so sharp and bright? How is it brighter than the Omnia's? Guest ElThomsono Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 This is just the downside of the AMOLED display (or indeed any OLED display). The only one that's any good in direct sunlight is Samsung's new "Super AMOLED" on the Wave. Have a google about for it, I think I saw a post on engadget showing it off in direct sunlight, very impressive. The blackberry uses TFT. To my knowledge this is all correct ;)
Guest lambi1982 Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 Just show it to him in indoors and your O2 will destroy the BB's washed out TFT. unless you are at the beach all the time why does sunlight always bother users with any phone really. If sunlight is glaring on your screen turn around so it is not ;) most phones are going to move to AMOLED/OLED so we will all be in the same boat at some point ;) Personally I am indoors most of the time and when I am outside I tend to be in the shade so my O2 is always beautiful to my eyes.
