Guest BigBearMDC Posted April 27, 2010 Report Posted April 27, 2010 ... or you succeed with the work you're doin' for the MoDaCo community, hmmmm? I really hope so, but I'm not sure if I could manage to get the 2.6.29 kernel running on the Pulse before Huawei releases A2.1 officially :P Anyway I hope the new ROM will be as easy to root as our CRs today. Greetings, BigBear

Greetings, BigBear Hey Bear! I've just noticed something: Since that chinese april update my kernel version is 2.6.27 Does that help in anyway?
Guest BigBearMDC Posted April 27, 2010 Report Posted April 27, 2010 Hey Bear! I've just noticed something: Since that chinese april update my kernel version is 2.6.27 Does that help in anyway? Unfortunately not as the minimum requirements for Android 2.0+ is the 2.6.29 kernel. Some devices even use the 2.6.32 kernel. Thanks anyway  Greetings, BigBear

Guest BigBearMDC Posted April 27, 2010 Report Posted April 27, 2010 Hm.. Ok =/ hehehe Is that hard to port pulse mini's kernel? Without the source it's nearly impossible. But what I want to do is porting the msm 2.6.29 kernel. This should he working if we put enough work into it  Greetings, BigBear
Guest de_shepherd Posted April 27, 2010 Report Posted April 27, 2010 More news about 2.1 > t-mobile is estimated that 5 months will be released Hmm. As this is a translation I expect it is actually saying it will be released in "month 5" - i.e. May
Guest jmmL Posted April 27, 2010 Report Posted April 27, 2010 As this is a translation I expect it is actually saying it will be released in "month 5" - i.e. May That's a very good point - I hadn't considered that. Perhaps someone who reads Chinese could have a look. Huawei should release the sources for the Pulse Mini's kernel. There's a GPL information sheet inside that mini rom. I'm just waiting until the Mini actually goes on sale somewhere before I fire off an email. (I'm not counting that UK site which promises to deliver in two weeks time)
Guest Basher52 Posted April 27, 2010 Report Posted April 27, 2010 http://forum.huawei.com/jive4/thread.jspa?...&orderStr=9 its an Kernel Package which includes the simple drivers.maybe it can help you with your work on this project, if you already knew this source, sorry for my doublepost.
Guest Richard_Arkless Posted April 27, 2010 Report Posted April 27, 2010 ...the U8220 is the Pulse. feelmychi no what I meant was I wasnt sure if u8220 was released anywhere else before it was released in the uk under the tmobile pulse name

Guest gyusza Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 (edited) Sorry I've tried to use the translator, but it didn't go well... I did not understand you  he says that he talked to t-mob hungary, and they are basically pointing fingers at huawei, and saying that huawei will realease the 2.1 rom when it is ready. t-mob also says that they only test the rom for bugs and glitches. marcox also mentioned that they should realease the rom for us, for some more testing, but i think that is unlikely to happen :P cheers edit: hungarian is still difficult if not impossible for online translators  Edited April 28, 2010 by gyusza

Of course Huawei blames T-Mobile for the late of the ROM, and T-Mobile blames Huawei for the same. I've wrote them a mail telling that maybe the users like to take part in testing the 2.1 ROM, because there will be a custom ROM from it sooner or later which fixes most of the problems. And of course that we are very inpatient now. They said that they take only part in testing and reporting the errors (i guess they forgot this with 1.5), Huawei will publish the 2.1 ROM. I don't believe them, because there are no ROMs on Huawei's site anymore. Please someone translate this to those who can't understand hungarian  Because i don't speak english." Ooops, i'm to slow behind gyusza. Edited April 28, 2010 by DarkBytePH

Guest MarcusHenrique Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 Paul's back! Maybe we'll get some real action if he's able to help bear with our 2.1 rom!
Guest klutsh Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 As bear has already said, we need a 2.6.29 or better kernel, without this 2.1 wont work. I was considering leaving the pulse, and grabbing a Nexus, but honestly for what it gives over the Pulse it's just not cost effective. We will have 2.1, we only have a few weeks to wait. Once 2.1 is out I will start on porting themes correctly, although looking at the dir listing the Pulse may support themes as default.
Guest mr.a Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 U8110V100R001C85B214SP05.zip is this the working ROM. I mean can we just upgrade our pulse with it. or is this the stock T-mobile pulse mini rom?
