Core Player for Omnia 2 (I8000)

I brought a new phone (I8000) for multimedia and reading ebook purpose, but i get disappointed because no video player that run well except samsung touch player that built in for video playback purpose in omnia2. samsung touch player lacking of video format and codec to playback video file but touch player is the only player for omnia 2 that get hardware accelerated. i search in a lot of forum but i couldn't find good video player that run smooth for big resolution for my omnia2, so i download almost all video player that i can find for winmo and try it on my omnia2. the good video player that i found first is tcpmp that already modified (TCPMP netdrg v2), it can play several big video files and also having subtitle support, i really like this player since i can play my video files well even tough still bit laggy but i can still enjoy my movie and drama series. Yesterday before i had to hard reset my omnia 2 because lost battery icon( so i have to click a lot of menu before i get to know my battery level ) i search for core player that support hardware acceleration, but the only i can find is core player that support snap dragon not the samsung s3c6410 processor. So i download some of them ( what i find is core player that extract from acer s200(core player 1.32)and core player that support toshiba tsunagi(core player 1.36) ), luckily :huh: :P :blink: after i hard reset and install the core player that i download( i tried the one that extracted from acer s200 ), its run my video file well, as good as samsung touch player ( but i guess its run better). So i share my experience with other omnia2 user.

hi

i did a test and here is my benchmarks for helicopters.mp4 video (720*432 30fps)

in high performance mode and directdraw video output.

acer s200 :huh: coreplayer: 116.70 %

coreplayer v1.3.6 build 7427 :70.46 %

TCPMP 0.72RC1: 33.12%

i am using omnia2 with full JD1

i test playing a video 480p with latest core player i getting 4fps

but for this acer coreplayer i getting 2 to 3 fps

TouchPlayer on WM6.5 is totally lag to play 'Helicopters' (and other high quality movies) than WM6.1.

And it is true, 'standard' Coreplayer has a very poor quality video.

But this one that you posted is simply perfect! :huh:

Video Preferences that I'm using:

Video output: DirectDraw

Video quality: High

Smooth Zoom: On

Dither: selected

It is strange that on my device, this CorePlayer still has bad performance. Cannot play any of my video files smoothly. Did you guys test with H.264 video format? I've got really bad result.

so it actually runs as fast as touch player for video and there is no lag? Touch player for me runs fine maybe because i convert all my video to meet the omnia requirements and don't really watch to many videos so can't say much. When you guys say it works are you converting anything or just dumping it on the phone and watching it. If there is no conversion involved that this might be what i'm looking for.

The same episode i tried on touch player lags so badly on this core player how are you guys getting good results?

For me the speed of that NEW *old* coreplayer is exactly the same like the newest 1.3.6 version. I don't see any difference with some really demanding clips (i.e AVC h264 848x 480 + AAC coded in 2500 kbps)

Actually, all my videos play with the same quality on Coreplayer (Directdraw selected) and Touchplayer.

No, jebise. All of my videos are just the clip downloaded from youtube. I think they're not MKV. I really wonder what resolution and bitrate which the others used for their videos to get good result. Please suggest man!!

I just use any 'DVD to .AVI' and it works fine. Or I download a DVDRip movie from the internet and transfer to device without any conversion.

In fact, with this 'super' Coreplayer, it is the first time that I can use ATI Imageon driver on HTC Advantage with no lag (High Video, Smooth Zoom ON and Dither selected)

Just some resolutions that my videos has:

1. FOURCC: "DX50" (DivX Video) 640x480 / 2 channels .mp3, 44100Hz.

2. AVI:

a. 608x336, 23fps, 767kbps, XVID

b. 640x352, 23fps, 1144kbps, XVID

c. 640x352, 25fps, 1921kbps, XVID

d. 720x480, 25fps, 1593kbps, XVID

e. 576x320, 29fps, 1254kbps, XVID

Try to change Video Preferences on Coreplayer to get a better performance and post your results. :huh:

i tried to change the settings as per the above, but still not getting good results. Those videos you are playing are just standered divx files core player over even touch player should play them without much trouble. Trying to play HD videos is a whole new story core player just sucks with them, like the episode of TBBH just lags but works fine in touch player. Its an MP4 with 480x742 resolution and h264 and no problems.

Please learn the differences between h264 and divx,xvid before post video results

This coreplayer doesn't have any hardware decoding supported codec for omnia 2, it can't play h264 videos.

The intent of the H.264/AVC project was to create a standard capable of providing good video quality at substantially lower bit rates than previous standards (e.g. half or less the bit rate of MPEG-2, H.263, or MPEG-4 Part 2), without increasing the complexity of design so much that it would be impractical or excessively expensive to implement.

Hardware encoder and IP

Because H.264 encoding requires significant computing power, software encoders that run on a general-purpose CPU are typically slow, especially when dealing with HD contents. To reduce CPU usage or to do realtime encoding, hardware encoders may be employed.

A hardware H.264 encoder can be an ASIC or an FPGA. An FPGA is a general programmable chip. To use an FPGA as a hardware encoder, an H.264 encoder IP Core is required. As technology evolves, a full HD (main profile, level 4.1, 1080p, 30fps) H.264 encoder can run on a single chip of low cost FPGA in 2009.

This 1.3.1 version was no better than my 1.3.6. I played a mp4 trailer on touch play with flawless play back, when played on either version of coreplayer I got tons of lag.

I just cant wait for Core player to have their newer update that supports the O2

Please learn the differences between h264 and divx,xvid before post video results

This coreplayer doesn't have any hardware decoding supported codec for omnia 2, it can't play h264 videos.

Currently only samsung touch player is capable of h264. If there is a developer for tcpmp or coreplayer, touchplayer uses those codecs below

Well core player can play lower res h.264 videos without a problem. Just because it doesn't use hardware doesn't mean it cant play them at all. Your exaggerating the need for hardware decoding when playing h.264 videos.

thanks for all the comment. now i still using 4 different video player in my omnia2. i using 4 different video player because each video player have their own better playback for different codec. i using core player to play my old japanese and korean mv that have 640x480 resolution or 720x480. almost all the mv can play flawlessly using this core player when touch player can play that mv because lack of video codec. its painfull when i must decode my mv collection only to play 3-5 minutes per files. when i tried to lay wmv video, only wmp that can run my wmv video with good performance. so, i think not all video can be played in this core player flawless but it give me better performance than 1.36 version of core player and its give me better satisfaction than touch player. and i hope the next release of core player will support our s3c6410 processor better. i hope when any of u find better video player, share that with us.

i did a test and here is my benchmarks for helicopters.mp4 video (720*432 30fps)

in high performance mode and directdraw video output.

acer s200 :huh: coreplayer: 116.70 %

I can't play video in full screen, why ? Help me

try menu->option->orientation->left handed

and then double tap the screen. u should get your video played on fullscreen
