asolution to get fast fix with gps!!!program inside

after 2 months with my omnia 2 the all gps programs refused to work :huh: and i was so frusterated about my phone(i thought gps antenna was broken until i came to this thread at xda

edit: after a weak of trying some reported it worked for them and some not,the fastest lock among us was drorcun Post #20 >> the lock was in 20 sec only :blink:

and i have asked the program writer mack 2003@xda-dev(all credits goes to him)about the best setting for omnia 2 and he replied

i'm using your v2.6 driver on my omnia 2 but i have some problems

the first is that for acold start the phone take about 10 or 20 min (it takes so long to get afix) but after that for hot start takes exactly 75 sec but the connection stops and reconnects again and again (it keeps on dropping)so it not relieble at all

Change the Com Timeout setting to 1000, and do the same to the "Internal GPS section", Sleep Time and Poll Rate.

and i noticed that the baud rate was set automatically to 57600 so i reverted it back to 4800 ... but what happened to make it go that high????

Faster baud rates are better, but ModDriver did not change it for you.

second ... what is the best setting of gps(gps program port and gps hardware port) to use with your mod ??? or the samsung setting and windows mobile setting are overridden by your driver???

Best to leave these settings at factory, and don't change them in ModSettings either.

third ... how can i install the compass driver ??? i downloaded the files but samsung sdk 2 is dll file ... so what to do with it??

Use the CAB I provided on the second post instead, it is newer than the dll there anyway.

so now we have the gps driver and compass driver

it is in the attachments ... please try and report guys(i cant try right now because my storage has gone :o )

My GPS works just fine. I downloaded the XTRA data with ActiveSync, and I'm used it on COM4 / 9600 and the fix takes about 1-2 minutes. :huh:

This appears to be "Mach2003 GpsModDriver", a com port driver.

It installs in your mobile Windows folder:

GpsModDriver.dll

GpsModSetup.exe

AltitudeTable_1.RAW

It also creates GpsModSetup.lnk in

\Windows\Start Menu\Programs

It also installs a certificate.

well ... it works very well with my phone i almost get instant fix after hot start

and here is aproof from my device in attachment

all i wanted was to help other people here :huh: nothing more

and yes it mach driver

and if you wanted to remove it just run kill process in attachment then remove program folder under \Windows\App Install

Yes... this is a March2003 (XDA) GPS driver...

If you install a Samsung SDK 2.0, this driver can be used to compass too...

Good response of GPS after this installed... Tested on WM 6.5.3 (JD1).

How fast does the GPS detected? is it memory usage and CPU performance? my GPS is also taking a long time to detect the signal.

Works like magic... I could never fixed to a satellite till i install this

Fixed to satelite within 1-2 mins.. (JA5 ROM)

well try and tell us >>> i use it with jd1 official rom and it's working great ... all what i did was to enable xtra without enabling sntp server and be sure to use com 2 with your gps program or leave it to automatic

I switched back to JAL port splitter and i have a fix within 10 seconds !! and yes that is 10 seconds and i have a stable fix.

So stay away from this one and use JAL port splitter instead

I have found the port splitter. can you please explain how to set it up.

Settings for port splitter that i have :

INPUT port COM7

Baud 57600

OUTPUT COM8:

Autostart on

With this settings i have always a fix in about 10 seconds.

Xtra data is also on in gps settings cause port splitter will keep it up2date every few days.

If xtra data is not enabled then it can take longer to get a fix.

I can't believe the number of people that have problems with their GPS. Mine has always picked up a signal in 30 seconds or less. Most times less than 10 seconds.

i realized that gps keep working background when i closed to igo8.. phone is getting warm and battery drains.. and only soft reset solved this issue.. so i unistall it and back to normal..

Wow! Works great for me. Before using this gpsmod, i could never get a GPS lock using JD1 ROM no matter which settings and even with xtra enabled. With this driver, i got a GPS fix very quickly. Thanks you omnianooooooooooo! :P

However, all setting goes back no normal whenever there's a reset. So after reboot need to reset everything again.

Looks like I'm not the one noticing this problem. I guess this driver really turns on our GPS all the time causing heavy battery drain. Well, back to trying other program/solution I guess :huh:
