Guest DremoX Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 (edited) i think i have the solution for the problem: first the step1 problem: i have compared the "step1"-files from windows and linux. On linux there is a 5 second timeout after the command which is responsible for the "90... hboot" error. On Windows goes the cmd still around with the commands, so it could be that the devices isn't ready to recive some more commands. Maybe a workaround for that problem could be to implement a timer there. the second problem on step2: when you have selected the "recovery" on HBOOT wait 'till the black phone with the red exclamation mark appers, after then you can run the step2. Before this point the fastboot commands couldn't recognize the phone. Now everything works fine on my device. I have rooted it via my ubuntu machine. (Sorry for my english :P) Edited May 4, 2010 by DremoX
Guest Deadstar Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 Rooting the Desire following this guide and installalling a Cyanogen rom will void my warranty? Rooting and only installing app2sd on the original unbrand Desire rom will void my warranty too? Is it possible to reverse the ROOT and return the Desire in the warranty?? Can someone explain the warranty question? When it is voided? When it can be reactivated? Tnx
Guest kamidadevil Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 Hi Paul, This is the third time im asking this question but I guess you r too busy, But please take a sec to answer this, I have successfully rooted my phone have installed a2sd and dalvic update, everything is fine except one error, when ever im using internet either through wifi or 3G, I get an error that HTC message uploader is not responding, it gives me two options force close or wait, when i chose wait the error disappears and i can continue browsing or whatever im doing, can you tell me why is this happening ? coz I am not able to find anything related to this error.
Guest DremoX Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 Can someone explain the warranty question? When it is voided? When it can be reactivated? If you have a stock image to flash (which should be available in a few days/weeks) then there is now problem to reverse everything i think. Also a nandroid backup, done befor you have flashed the rootupdate.zip, can solve your problem. Or is there a process in the rooting like the unlocking on the nexus one? @Paul?
Guest kevinblo Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 Is anyone out there willing to create a CIME with User Dictionary like the original IME from HTC? CIME from Paul seem work fine for me. However, it lack of User Dictionary feature. Sometime it take time to type some work that not really a proper english without the User Dictionary feature. I'm willing to pay for that if that's available. thank you everyone, and Paul for his excellent job!
Guest cschmitz Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 (edited) FAILED (remote: 90 hboot pre-update! please flush image again immediately) sending 'zip' (137446 KB)... FAILED (status read failed (Too many links)) I had this error aswell, preventing me from completing step1 and further root when using Win7(32bit+64bit). I solved it by just using plain Ubuntu 10.04, running on my Laptop anyway. It also produced the first line of the error but then succeeded in resending the file. Here is a paste on how the key line behaves differently: FAILED (remote: 90 hboot pre-update! please flush image again immediately) < waiting for device > sending 'zip' (137446 KB)... Guest rvjacobs Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 Hello all you MoDaCo fans, I have a small problem but I do hope there is someone here who can help me with it. It could be that my question has sort of been answered already but with the 68 page sof this topic I kind of lost track of t all. My question is as follows: I have rooted my unbranded Desire successfully. It al went fine (without linux) and there have been no problems at all. The manuals are great. Also teh app2sd part worked perfectly and I am enjoying met Desire now a bit more. However, I came across one new problem. Certain apps have disappeared from the Market. After some research I found out that it is mostly the 'copy protected' apps that don't show up in the Market anymore. A few examples of the apps I really want and /or need: DailyDilbert (with the black icon), OV:Trein (a dutch app for public transport), OV Chipkaart Saldo (a dutch app to see how much credit you have left on your traveling card for the dutch public transport) and Bluppr (a dutch app to create a postcard from a photo, made with the HTC Desire, and send that postcard directly to someone home address). Yes, I am from the netherlands ;-). But these apps are not in the market anymore after I rooted my Desire. My homemate also has a desire (which has not been rooted yet) and when I look in the market with his desire, the apps are there. So it has smething to do with the rooted ROM and the fact that these apps probably are copy protected or something. Is there somebody who ca help me witg making it possible again to make my Market show these apps or to get these apps in anothe way (but I prefer to have a solution for the problem that certain apps don't show up anymore). Please, I hope someone can help me with this and that people read this post. Thanx in advance.
Guest cschmitz Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 Certain apps have disappeared from the Market. It took my desire a few minutes to "properly" load the market, since that initial hickup and a reboot for good measure, it works great again. If not, use this http://code.google.com/p/market-enabler/

Guest winx199 Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 HELP!!! I was doing this on Windows 7. I got errors when I was doing step1: ..... INFO[RUU]WP,radio,100 FAILED (remote: 90 hboot pre-update! please flush image again immediately) sending 'zip' (137446 KB)... FAILED (command write failed (No such file or direc tory)) Rebooting to bootloader... < waiting for device > rebooting into bootloader... OKAY Step 1 complete - now use the bootloader menu to enter recovery mode. BUT, I didn't notice this error, I thought step1 is finished, so I followed the instruction to enter into recovery mode, but the phone just showed a phone icon with a red exclamation mark in front. I typed step2-windows.bat, the got the errors: step2-windows.bat Desire Root Step 2 Pushing required files to device... * daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 * * daemon started successfully * error: device not found error: device not found Pushing update file to device sdcard - this may take a few minutes... error: device not found error: device not found Now wipe and apply rootedupdate.zip from the recovery image menu. error: device not found What should I do? The phone is still connected to the PC, and just stayed at the status that has the phone icon with a red exclamation mark. Did I just brick my phone? Any help? Thanks a lot!!!
Guest SiX-P4cK Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 (edited) No just disconnect, remove battery for restart the phone. I do the same yesterday that doesn't brick. Edited May 5, 2010 by SiX-P4cK
Guest winx199 Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 No just disconnect, remove battery for restart the phone. I do the same yesterday that doesn't brick. Thanks for the quick reply! So, I just need to remove the battery, and start it all over again? It seems the root process is not safe when undertaken in Windows. If I'm not going to continue the rooting process, so I just remove the battery, and just power it on without entering FASTBOOT, can I still use my phone like I haven't done any root processes? BTW, I have the sim free Desire bought from UK. Sorry for my english, hope I made myself clear...
Guest Paul Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 0.80 root independently tested and confirmed, online later today. P
Guest SiX-P4cK Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 (edited) Yes just disconnect, remove battery and restart. The phone is exactly the same before the root process. The root process under windows is bugged. edit: german boy will be happy :P Edited May 5, 2010 by SiX-P4cK

Guest Ian80 Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 Hi paul, Any idea if/when the orange branded ROM will be available? Not sure I'm brave enough to root without having a way back in case I need to send the phone back for repairs :P

Guest rvjacobs Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 It took my desire a few minutes to "properly" load the market, since that initial hickup and a reboot for good measure, it works great again. If not, use this http://code.google.com/p/market-enabler/ I thought market enabler was meant for the paid apps to show. But my problem is the copy protected apps are missing. The paid apps are there. That's not the problem. Can anyone confirm that market enabler is also the solution for my problem or do I need te do something else to make the copy protected apps visible in the market again?
Guest Bakk15 Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 Have you readed here? Wonderfull, it's working, i've checked by this : http://forums.t-mobile.com/t5/Operating-Sy...2AA552D883F9018 thank you so much
