Yes just disconnect, remove battery and restart.

The phone is exactly the same before the root process.

The root process under windows is bugged.

edit: german boy will be happy :P

Hello Paul, i confirm it seems that the windows process is bugged !

Im use windows root option on my Win7 Ultimate x64 without problems... Im using original HTC Sync x.28 from SD card... Im try R3 before windows methode but it doesn't work for me. It has stop on step1 with known 90 ... error...

Im forget Im NOT use Pauls r4 windows root guide but Im root it with pushfiles_windows.zip with only one BAT file...

No, I'd recommend not using x64 for now. I've also added this to the first post.

As i posted on the previous page, just use a Live CD such as Ubuntu and root from there. I suspect its a driver issue in Win7, had it happen both in 32+64bit.

Rooting will not work under Windows with that error, just use a 32bit Ubuntu LIVE CD (has alot nicer GUI than TinyLinux) and have the unzipped pushfiles.zip on a USB Stick, then go to the USB Stick and run the steps.

You will save yourself 100x the trouble.

Either this guide is totally vague about the goldcard issue or i'm just very tired.

I bought mine from a normal store, so I don't need a goldcard. But the first step of the guide says "make your microsd card into a goldcard", so do I just need to format it to fat32 and that's it?

If so, will I be able to do this using the phone to format the card or an external card reader is needed?

And - after I format the microSD card to fat32 (not a goldcard), can I format it back later to NTFS and use it normally (I probably can, but is it recommended)?

ahm..

Worked.

- Used Ubuntu netbook edition, created bootable usb drive. Copied over extracted r4-desire-root.zip to root of usb drive.

- Booted as live cd, opened terminal, changed to r4-desire-root folder, run instructions but used my cooked custom. Looks good so far.

Cheers

Please help,

I have installed market enabler to make the copy protected apps visible again in the market. But, as I thought, this is not the solution. Is there please someone on this forum who can confirm that the copy protected apps (such as bluppr) are gone after rooting your desire with paul's rom. And is there someone who can think of a solution to make the copy protected apps visible again? It would be a great help, because rooting the desire was great and app2sd works great too, but not being able to download copy protected apps from the market is a real downside.

Odd, i would suggest to reflash the device again, maybe use the generic "unroot" and start the process from scratch to really start off with a clean device. Indeed it appears that not the Market Locale is a problem but your bought content association. I have no clue why that should be affected though, assuming you didnt do monumental customization i would really redo the whole process with a clean new install+root.
