Guest dennusb Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 Are you extracting ALL the files from the archive pushfiles.zip ?? Instead of just opening the archive and running recovery-linux.sh ?? You need to extract everything to a folder, open a Terminal, and then run the commands from the folder which everything is extracted from ie cd pushfiles sudo ./adb-linux kill-server sudo ./recovery-linux.sh done I extracted everything and on second command i get "Sudo : Unable to execute ./adb-linux : No such file or directory"
Guest PaulW21781 Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 I extracted everything and on second command i get "Sudo : Unable to execute ./adb-linux : No such file or directory" in the termninal, do ls -lia post the output.

You need to extract everything to a folder, open a Terminal, and then run the commands from within gnome-terminal (Accessories -> Terminal), and do it from the folder which everything is extracted from ie cd pushfiles sudo ./adb-linux kill-server sudo ./recovery-linux.sh done okay, I've managed to do that, my Desire is still in Red Triangle mode, and in teminal it says 'push: files/system/bin/linker -> /system/bin/linker'
Guest twistywizard Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 Quick question regarding the Apps2SD install... Do I need to do anything to the SD Card?? (partitioning, etc), or am I good to just leave as-is after installing the 2nd part?? Great work though Paul, very well done  I would like to know this too? Anyone offer any insight. I went into recovery mode and installed it via the same method as rootedupdate.zip. I assume this was correct?
Guest miguelsanchez79 Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 As WinMo convert I wonder if rooting my desire will allow to install application on sd card? To be honest I was suprised that it is not possible with standard rom,
Guest dreamdealer Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 I extracted everything and on second command i get "Sudo : Unable to execute ./adb-linux : No such file or directory" silly question but i am running the 64 bit version of ubuntu, do you think that could be the problem. anyone getting the above error message on the 32 bit version. clutching at straws here..
Guest PaulW21781 Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 (edited) I get this Considerably more files than I have in there  paulw@aspire:~/Desire/rooting/pushfiles$ ls -lia total 5800 16411 drwxr-xr-x 3 paulw paulw 4096 2010-04-28 14:31 . 16409 drwxr-xr-x 4 paulw paulw 4096 2010-04-28 18:46 .. 6979 -rwxr-xr-x 1 paulw paulw 2530671 2010-04-28 14:08 adb.exe 6945 -rwxr-xr-x 1 paulw paulw 340896 2010-04-28 14:31 adb-linux 6978 -rwxr-xr-x 1 paulw paulw 349196 2010-04-28 14:31 adb-mac 6980 -rwxr-xr-x 1 paulw paulw 96256 2010-04-28 14:31 AdbWinApi.dll 6559 -rwxr-xr-x 1 paulw paulw 2530671 2010-04-28 14:31 adb-windows.exe 6982 -rwxr-xr-x 1 paulw paulw 60928 2010-04-28 14:31 AdbWinUsbApi.dll 16412 drwxr-xr-x 5 paulw paulw 4096 2010-04-28 13:46 files 6946 -rwxr-xr-x 1 paulw paulw 123 2010-04-28 14:33 recovery-linux.sh 6981 -rwxr-xr-x 1 paulw paulw 109 2010-04-28 14:33 recovery-mac.sh Although... I don't understand why it can't find the adb-linux file... its there and also set as an executable according to your output :| Maybe try re-downloading the pushfiles.zip file and extracting it to a new folder?? Sorry... I can't help much more than that... **Edit** I'm running Ubuntu 64bit edition... Edited April 28, 2010 by PaulW21781

To be honest I was suprised that it is not possible with standard rom, Yes, its in post #2, Apps2SD or A2SD does this. Some people think 2.2 will have it built in.
Guest Silvake Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 ignore that SDK thingy, really cant be arsed explaining.. i am using virtual box can like see adb-linux file with ls. can even cat adb-linux file but for some reason i cant run it says its not there. going to to take the ubuntu live cd approach see if that works. i know a fair bit about linux as well but this one is a bit of head f*uk Try to set "adb-linux" executable bit first: chmod +x ./adb-linux or sudo chmod +x ./adb-linux if runing as unprivileged user.
Guest Paul Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 Arabic and Hebrew font support (testing) now available in the second post. P

I'm running 9.10 64bit too! I think this is the problem. i'm creating an 9.10 32BIT live usb stick now with UNETBOOTIN  Hope this will help
Guest radshag Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 Hey Paul, I am getting this ./recovery-mac.sh error: device not found error: device not found I have followed the directions and am at the screen with the red triangle. Any clues? Thanks, Dov
Guest thezork Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 Hi Paul, Thank you very much. Great Mannnn... I want to ask you which langauge inside asia rom? Can it use Thai langaugue? If not can I use normal method like N1 to push font inside?
Guest PaulW21781 Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 I would like to know this too? Anyone offer any insight. I went into recovery mode and installed it via the same method as rootedupdate.zip. I assume this was correct? Same way I installed it (as-per instructiong on the 2nd post)... But I've since tested by installing 2 apps, the Phone memory went down, and nothing appeared on the SDCard. So.. any help on fully configuring Apps2SD would be very helpful indeed
Guest Paul Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 To enable A2SD just create a second partition that is EXT3. radshag, it's not seeing your device plugged in at all... re: Linux issues, I tested on Karmic 64 bit and it was fine. Try su'ing to the root user and running it perhaps? P

Guest kaaspad Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 Chinese input is now available - see the second post. P actually was looking for the Arabic and Hebrew, I have updated my translation with a file posted by dmanbuhnik on iandroid.co.il, which includes a file that adds hebrew, but haven't tested it yet. the link is: http://www.2shared.com/file/12902925/ca44a703/hebrew.html
Guest Paul Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 You sure you've copied the zip file to your SD? You didn't extract it right? P

Guest radshag Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 I'm getting "device not found" under Knoppix 6.2. How can I make Linux recognize the device? I have tried Ubuntu, but that gives me "adb-linux; file not found" despite that the file is definitely there. Did you solve the device not found issue. I am getting it too...
Guest dennusb Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 I can confirm that you likely will need a 32BIT LINUX! Wasn't working on 10.04 64Bit, is working on 9.04 32BIT!!!!!
Guest Paul Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 I will remove the requirement for a Windows machine tomorrow... P
