Guest sh500 Posted May 20, 2010 Report Posted May 20, 2010 It's called "Quick System Info PRO" from the market. @scotch whisky- you have obviously rooted your device; so you have A2SD working correctly, dalvik cache moved to SD? I've pretty much have been following this thread since it first started but like many others have been cautious to proceed but I am quickly running out of phone storage (!)

Yes "dalvik cache" is moved to SD. I am using a class 6 microSD card and haven't noticed any decrease in performance. As you have seen it doesn't take many applications stored on the phone, particularly big ones like Google Earth before warnings about memory appear. A2SD is probably the main reason for rooting.
Guest Distro Posted May 20, 2010 Report Posted May 20, 2010 Have the following message while rooting r4-way: any ideas?
Guest StuMcBill Posted May 20, 2010 Report Posted May 20, 2010 Have the following message while rooting r4-way: any ideas? Are you using a 64 bit version of Windows? If so, the answer has been posted in this thread previously, I would try and find it, but I am posting this from my Desire. I think there are 2 options, run the original batch file with a "pause" command added, or run the individual commands from the batch file, manually. I did the latter. Hope this is some help. Stu
Guest Distro Posted May 20, 2010 Report Posted May 20, 2010 no, win 7 x86, but i tried tinycore and this method works fine, thanks...
Guest omegen Posted May 20, 2010 Report Posted May 20, 2010 Have the following message while rooting r4-way: any ideas? just do it at any other comp, even lap that none of phone flashed on it. had same prob with my work comps running win7 and xp, tryed with changing the drivers manually from sdk usb drivers, nothing helped. then tryed on my home lap , everything worked from first time, and done many phones.
Guest encrypt Posted May 21, 2010 Report Posted May 21, 2010 tinycore method worked for me... hope we get a better solution soon... i think the important thing is to get to recovery without pc...
Guest PeBo75 Posted May 21, 2010 Report Posted May 21, 2010 if i understand correctly, you acutally first bricked your phone, then unrooted the rom and you unbricked your phone...??? Am i right? I don't think so. In Bootloader the Recovery option is still there but if you enter this mode your adb access will still be gone. That is what my Desire does...
Guest rowanparker Posted May 21, 2010 Report Posted May 21, 2010 Hello, This is my first post here. First off, thank you Paul for working it out and posting it. Secondly, I've used the r4 method. I've searched through this thread (as much as I can as it is rather long). I don't see a why to get a2sd on this rom mentioned. I've tried using a method I found by googling (this) but got a 'Verification Failed' error when trying to install it. Would someone please shed a light in the right direction? Again, thanks. Rowan.
Guest EddyOS Posted May 21, 2010 Report Posted May 21, 2010 You could flash THIS ROM, it has A2SD+ already in it so once flashed just partition a card correctly and it'll work
Guest crazymob Posted May 21, 2010 Report Posted May 21, 2010 please if someone can help me it would be much appreciated my htc desire is stuck on boot screen after step 1 of rooting the phone i can still access the FASTBOOT menu although when i access recovery menu i am taken back to the logo and it hangs again phone is TELSTRA 1.16xxxx thanks.

I'm downloading, will give that a go unless there's way that doesn't involve having to lose everything (I know I can back up, but Sense layout never seems to get backed up).
Guest Elbereth Posted May 21, 2010 Report Posted May 21, 2010 Rooted my HTC Desire yesterday using this method. It did not work under Windows 7 x64 but no problem with Windows XP x86 (my laptop). Thanks!
Guest rowanparker Posted May 21, 2010 Report Posted May 21, 2010 (edited) Okay, this ROM didn't work. Failed to boot, just stuck on the quietly brilliant screen. It's strange cos I tried Pays ROM (over at xda) at that worked first time then didn't work and now nothing will work except the r4 ROM. Any ideas? Edit: Pays 1.5 ROM now does work, it seems to be random now as to what works. Unless I'm just being an idiot somewhere along the line? Edited May 21, 2010 by rowanparker

If you read the full thread (a ball ache i know) it has been answered before, but just to save you time ill fill ya in..... Dont use Windows x64 its still buggy, although some people have had success with it. Also don't use a VMware image as it has a few problems with using the USB, Dont ask me why lol. Use the Tinycore linux version it works Very well indeed Link!
Guest rowanparker Posted May 21, 2010 Report Posted May 21, 2010 For me in step1 password required?? what this password please? thanks Could be your root/sudo password if you're on linux?
Guest potter97 Posted May 21, 2010 Report Posted May 21, 2010 For me in step1 password required?? what this password please? thanks Should not be asking you for a password, unless your using Linux and you have typed "Sudo" first then its the password you logg on with.
