Guest caribchief Posted May 1, 2010 Report Posted May 1, 2010 Hi All, Is there a replacement application for the X button in WM 6.5.3 to close off applications once you click on the X?? Thanks
Guest bacchu Posted May 1, 2010 Report Posted May 1, 2010 yes its really annoying ... all the apps keep running in the background
Guest wyttp Posted May 1, 2010 Report Posted May 1, 2010 I am using Xtask because i cant run Fpsesce 0.10 if I am using showcase. Just a note to anyone who is using Fpsece 0.10.
Guest Doombringer Posted May 1, 2010 Report Posted May 1, 2010 I am using ameba. it is a program to edit behaviour of all bottom buttons. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=583002 second of them is the program, but you have to edit registery for any setting. third one is a gui app. for changing settings without registery tweaking. first one is a restarter, if you are willing to reboot after any change in settings, you dont need to install. it just restarts the ameba to make changes.
Guest dgmorland Posted May 1, 2010 Report Posted May 1, 2010 showcase Yes, i also recommend this app. Works great with 6.5.3
Guest plguzman Posted May 1, 2010 Report Posted May 1, 2010 Showcase is the one I use. Works perfectly.
Guest bacchu Posted May 1, 2010 Report Posted May 1, 2010 Showcase is the one I use. Works perfectly. I installed it, but it looks like another task manager? is there a way to make it work without opening the app itself?
Guest fekovic Posted May 1, 2010 Report Posted May 1, 2010 How can i set x button to close apps in registry? I read topic there ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=583002 ) but i don't undestand how to do it because i don't know which number to set. i'm using ameba. Thanks
Guest redzone321 Posted May 1, 2010 Report Posted May 1, 2010 am i the only one that prefers the X not to close your programs? The majority of programs have have an exit button in there menu or you cna always you task manager. Without using the X to minimize it makes it VERY easy to close apps you want to continue to run (ie music or messenger) in the background.
Guest jpenman Posted May 1, 2010 Report Posted May 1, 2010 MMTaskManger....it is a task manager but it has an option to have X to close apps when you hit it....just open the settings and turn the option on and soft reset and it will put that option in the Startup Folder so you wont have to open the task manager again....it is really good in my opinion. http://sites.google.com/site/maximusmobile...t-Apps/mmtaskma

Very interesting.
Guest dgmorland Posted May 1, 2010 Report Posted May 1, 2010 I installed it, but it looks like another task manager? is there a way to make it work without opening the app itself? Yes it is a task manager. You can configure the behaviour of the X button though and not use the task manager part if you dont want it. I have mine configured so that a long press on the X button closes the app and short tap on the X minimises the app so it stays running in the background.

Guest caribchief Posted May 2, 2010 Report Posted May 2, 2010 Hi All, Is there a replacement application for the X button in WM 6.5.3 to close off applications once you click on the X?? Thanks Hi Guys, Thank you all for your valuable comments that really helped me in making my choice of getting the X button to close off my applications The solution I eventually used was to use the application called XHOOK.exe by itself. Using XHOOK by ITSELF I am able to close off applications by hitting the X button. If I choose not close the applications....my Button 2 configured as "OK/Close" by hitting it once, actually minimizes the application in the background. IT DOES NOT CLOSE IT OFF. The XHOOK application allows you to see the applications that you have minimized by displaying the program icons on the top task bar (task bar that contains the clock, bluetooth icon etc. just like your windows task bar at the bottom). You can alternate the use of these programs and bring it to the forefront by just clicking on the desired program icon. You can then close it off with the X if you choose not to have it up and running again. In order to have XHOOK.exe start on its own you can place this program in the windows\startup folder on your device. This will execute the application once you mobile restarts. If you choose to execute immediately just click on it. Hope this easy method of closing as well as manipulating whatever program you want to the fore front be of use to you. Attached is the XHOOK.exe application you can download and copy it to your phone's Windows\Startup folder.XHook.exe

Guest Namar Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 :P :D :P Anyone can help me uninstall the XHOOK.EXE as I installed on yesterday night it's made very inconvenience @ omina 2. Thanks Dont just delete the Xhook otherwise when you reboot it will keep messing up your O2. Before you delete install the other part (Xtask) in your Start menu. Look for the Exit Xhook option from your Xtask and click on it. Now go to your start menu and delete both Xhook and Xtask. Soft reset. Done. I personally prefer MMtask manager, once installed go to its setting and configure the X button to close applications. With MMTask manager just a tap closes the application unlike in Showcase where you have to hold your finger on the X button momentarily before it can close an application. This is just my preference though. Try all of them and see which one you prefer.
