Guest Biliskner Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 GSM Handset or Network supplied? I was the same, although about 10 mins after the rooting guide was released, then waited about for A2SD :) Import ;) Otherwise I'd return it already! :D So yeah, generic unbranded.
Guest vastloper Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 Ok i typed in a terminal the following command: stop adbd this disconnected adb and showed an unknown device in my device manager. I think you can enable it by typing in a terminal on phone with: start adbd will try this when back again. when the command is not working we need to start the service for adbd i think

(testruu?). currently i only have stock ROM, so ls, su are all "permission denied" :)

Guest Biliskner Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 hey guys, something really random - if your battery is being sucked 3x faster than before your usb-brick, try this http://www.technipages.com/htc-hero-start-in-safe-mode.html I know it says Hero, but it works on Desire too. My battery lasts forever now. 14+ hours and 73% left. Stoked :) Last 7 hours was WiFi enabled in background, Gmail checks every hour etc. I have a feeling 3G data will still suck the life out of it, but from memory it did that anyway the first week I had this phone (before rootedupdate.zip)
Guest eViL D: Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 So, I plugged my phone in this morning to my PC. And, I hear the USB sound. USBDeview shows it connected, but as a usb composite device. I decided to unplug it and plug it back in, but nothing happened. Then, I unplugged it, uninstalled it and the Qualcomm drivers and rebooted it. After a few minutes I plugged it back in and it installed the composite device drivers again. Still no adb though and charging takes a few minutes to kick in. Never noticed this though.

Guest staba Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 Man I hope you guys get a fix soon. Currently my device is fine but I don't want to poop my pants everytime I flash a rom in the future :).

The drivers I found for WinXP installed "Qualcomm Modem". The company is like fort knox, can't find anything on it/them. Using Windows (on my Win7 machine) "look for recommended drivers automatically" yield absolutely nothing.... If your phone is turned off charging will start immediately, if your phone is turned on, it's like as if the kernel is waiting for some sort of USB input (my guess is it's waiting for Qualcomm software to take a hold of it).

Guest Biliskner Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 Mine starts up... almost loads the sense, then it reboots the sense... Could be trying to load some widgets... mine loaded no probs and most widgets were broken. Then I turned it off like normal and turned it on like normal and now I'm in shock it's still at 70%, at this rate I could charge it every 3 days :)

I'm hoping it have done something... anything to the battery drainage. It does say "safe mode", but it reboots Sense before I can do much..
Guest stevebrush Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 Yep, I rooted about 12 hours after Paul announced his r1 rooting method (with r1 a2sd) Do this too, r1 méthod, a few hours after release, then... see my previous posts.
