Guest jeckyllhavok Posted May 18, 2010 Report Posted May 18, 2010 there seems to be an OTA Update out today, has anyone with usb issue tried flashing back to stock and then the update?
Guest NordicZz Posted May 18, 2010 Report Posted May 18, 2010 (edited) Mine also just bricked running MCR r3... I was just going to do a nandroid restore (, when the recovery decided to "crash" (it crashed to the phone with the warning screen) for no reason, so i restarted the recovery via "recovery-windows.bat". The recovery seemed like something was wrong (flickering, strange movement of the marker etc.), but I didn't of course think much about that so I continued with the nandroid restore. It was then the real problems started... Now I can't access microSD ON the phone, or via USB. I can only get an USB connection via fast boot... Hope someone come with a solution... Short version: No microSD (am I the only one that can't access MicroSD via the Desire itself?), or any USB connection except for fast boot. Never mind all the edits... EDIT: What? I thought that I was stuck with MCR r3, but apparently I'm running stock (1.15.405.3) according to the software information! Anyone have any ideas how this could be? I have only done dozens of hard reset, and redone the root process a few times. I think I might return my Desire now if this is correct, but if this is really stock can HTC find out that it has been rooted? Edit2: Sorry if it is hard to understand what I write, I'm little bit in a panicked status right now. Edit3: Apparently I only flashed the testimage.zip from Paul... LOL Edited May 18, 2010 by NordicZz

Edited May 18, 2010 by NordicZz
Guest xhemp Posted May 18, 2010 Report Posted May 18, 2010 damn... lol :D Do you have any issues with the MicroSD? Quick :) Go to fastboot mode and do from your command line: fastboot oem enableqxdm 0 fastboot reboot Doing this it will re-enable your sd card ;)

Now I actually can use my Desire. :D Edit: I'm actually a bit happy that I am not alone with this issue, even though I wished we all would be without it :( Edited May 18, 2010 by NordicZz
Guest DougieB Posted May 18, 2010 Report Posted May 18, 2010 Just like to add another name to the list ... I had been using the CM port and loved it, thought I'd shell out £10 as a thank you for all the hard work rooting etc. Had a play with the kitchen as I'd just forked out, went into recovery, the recovery screen started doing that flashing thing as I started. Though not much of it at the time. Now stuck on stock FW with no BT, USB, ADB or FM radio. Added a few workarounds to deal with the odd quirks of sense, so OK for now - and learned a fair bit this evening - but hoping for a fix soon, esp. with 2.2 froyo likely to be released soon. Thanks for all the posts that helped me at least get back to (any) working rom + re-enable SD.... Dougie
Guest jdouce Posted May 18, 2010 Report Posted May 18, 2010 fastboot oem enableqxdm 0 fastboot reboot
Guest Carnage21 Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 so the issue is still happenign to people , with new cases everyday >.> stupid htc :)
Guest pina Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 (edited) looks like my desire is also bricked, can anyone tell me what that actually means? Is my desire ready for trash? I could restore my sd card and my sim card. Like everyone else here, when I plug the usb cable in, nothing happens... What other options do I have? Is it still possible to unroot the process? Edited May 19, 2010 by pina
Guest afiorillo Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 OK, I think that's enough: it's time to issue a STOP FLASHING for everyone until this glitch is sorted out. Paul?
Guest xTc is loVe Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 OK, I think that's enough: it's time to issue a STOP FLASHING for everyone until this glitch is sorted out. Paul? Yes i think everyone will brick his device sooner or later!
Guest pina Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 Yes i think everyone will brick his device sooner or later! yeah, and I'm really worried about my phone right now... When I plug in the usb cable, nothing happens :/
Guest Carnage21 Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 yeah, and I'm really worried about my phone right now... When I plug in the usb cable, nothing happens :/ reboot your phone then plug it into windows if you see 3 new devices called Qualcomm MSM technologies then u r usb bricked :)
Guest pina Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 reboot your phone then plug it into windows if you see 3 new devices called Qualcomm MSM technologies then u r usb bricked :) Do you think it's a software issue, or a hardware issue? Because if it's a software issue or bug, it should be possible to fix it... but if it's hardware related, then I think it's broken...
Guest ZiCoN Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 It's software.... I actually believe it's a fault unforseen by htc. They brag about the system is locked.. tight... But none the less, it has been rooted. I just don't think this issue is caused by something we SHOULD be able to fiddle with... I still think a future official release from htc will cure this, and the area might be locked so it won't happen again.... Just my thoughts

Guest ZiCoN Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 Well, maybe this one will help : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread...772#post6521772 Allready on the case :) There's a guy inthere who's flashing it within the next 15 minutes ;) Kinda exited :D
Guest geek78 Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 the issue for me is in the step2 with this line "sudo ./adb-mac shell /sbin/recovery &" so I suggest to do only the 1st step, you will have the testrom rooted and play with it by doing the 2nd step except the list line of the shell. You will be able to do what you want with adb. I did it last night with my new desire (1st one bricked). And sorry, but for me the only solution for the bricked desire is to send it back to htc...
