Guest leungda Posted May 1, 2010 Report Posted May 1, 2010 I bought a Samsung Omnia II (i8000L) and unlocked it for Fido. Also, I flashed CSC and PDA to unbranded firmware. Now, it seems Bell locked the build-in GPS. Do anyone how can I disable GPS lock? If I flash the PHONE firmware to unbranded firmware. Will it disable the GPS lock? ANYONE ?
Guest Mikroft Posted May 1, 2010 Report Posted May 1, 2010 Probably need to flash the radio rom if you're absolutely sure the GPS has been disabled.
Guest thebass Posted May 2, 2010 Report Posted May 2, 2010 (edited) GPS has settings you need to set, I doubt the proper settings are setup. Check your GPS settings. I was wondering, where did you get your phone unlocked? Edited May 2, 2010 by thebass
Guest Veritable Posted May 3, 2010 Report Posted May 3, 2010 I have a Bell Omnia 2, unlocked to use on Fido, which I flashed to I8000HZHJC2 (phone part not flashed so phone is still I8000LUGIJ6, so I wouldn't lose the HSPA+). Then I installed Garmin Mobile XT 5.00.20w. In the Garmin GPS settings, GPS Intermediate Driver didn't work, but COM7 worked for me. No "unlocking the GPS" necessary. The reason why I flashed the phone was because originally the Bell firmware wouldn't even let me modify the internet settings, and to get Chinese support. I don't think flashing did anything to the GPS, so I don't think that part is locked. BTW NSPRO supports unlocking this phone, but that's a professional tool. I don't think there's any free solutions ATM.

I was wondering, where did you get your phone unlocked? I have a Bell i8000L that I am using on AT&T in California. I unlocked it with the help of this site: http://www.fastgsm.com/en/samsung/samsung/...-ii/unlock-code It works great and I have no problems with the GPS with Google Maps or iGo8 J.
Guest cass_m Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 I got my Omnia II unlocked by Bell. I used a SIM from Cook Islands Telecom and the GPS still worked. I haven't flashed the ROM.

I was wondering, where did you get your phone unlocked? Mine is unlocked now too. Unlocking can be done but, it requires hardware to do so.
