I am planning on installing a copy of r2 tomorrow, and I have a couple of questions.

I want to backup everything so I can get my phone in the same state as it is in just now.

I have Titanium Backup (free) installed so I can backup my downloaded apps, and an SMS backup app to restore my SMS messages.

I also want to get all my settings and widget positions backed up so they will all be restored when I install the new Rom.

Will the HTC backup program do this for me, or will it not function on the new Rom.

Thanks

Stewart

Just baked a light r2, without AS2D, but flash didn't start after "Verifying data..."

Wiped everything... Where's the problem ?

I have just tried to install the r2 rom. I had the a2sd from r1 rom.

I did a wipe and then flashed the new r2 rom and now I have a boot loop. I keep hearing the htc boot sound.

What do I do?

Thanks,

Radshag

I had the same problem m8, backup your SD card and then do a fresh partition via recovery. Wipe then fresh reflash worked for me

r2 rocks :P - just installed a stripped-down version without facebook/flickr/twitter/stocks and no error (not even in logs) so far. Great work.

How do I backup the ext3 partition of my sd card? I am using a mac and can see the fat32 partition in finder but can't see the ext3 partition.

When in recovery mode do a Backup and Nand Backup, this saves all data etc, then just install the new Rom and all should be fine. If you performed a wipe before the rom install just do a Nand restore after the new rom is installed

Just backup the Fat 32 mate, the Ext3 will be reformatted but currently wont contain your pics etc as it only contains app data afaik. If you use Titanium you can restore everything you need from that.

It still doesnt seem to restore the desktop of the phone though bah

I know I have to root the phone before I can apply one of these custom ROMs, but do I still need the goldcard too? Would it depend on what is inside the custom ROM?

I only needed the goldcard to root it mate, you can flash this rom from a normal SD

Thanks Paul for all your great work. I am just curious about timezone bug, is there anyone who can confirm me the GMT for Pakistan in date and time settings. Over here its GMT+5 but my desire always shows it as GMT+6 which is very much annoying. I'll be grateful for any help.

Is there anyone who can help me out on above mentioned issue.

Thanks.

I've just done a bake and have Titanium, Maps and Navipanel (didn't try custom ingredients).

You didn't wipe AFTER flash did you?

Hm, after I installed the latest ROM, the HTC News Widget is missing. The application is there, but the widget is missing.

I checked via adb and the com.htc.NewsReaderWidget.apk is there in the /system/app folder. But it doesn't show in the widgets list. I also cooked the ROM again, but that didn't help.

Any idea how I can get it back?

I've just checked my bake and it's there OK, together with the 'News and Weather' widget!

Anyone else?

Flashed r2 - first from kittchen, omitting some google apps, having problems (FC) then flashed prebaked version now without any problem. Great !

However, I noticed before I had running the generic rom - AUTOKILLER showed my around 250mb free memory - now with r2 "only" 180mb right after boot...

AP2SD with Dalvik to SD is running well (checked with GSCRIPT)

Any thoughts ?

Another couple of questions.

I currently have my apps installed to internal memory. If I install a Rom with apps2sd, and then restore my apps from Titanium Backup, will they automatically be sent to the SD card?

Also, if I don't wipe, will all my settings and widget placements be remembered after installation?

If I do a nandroid backup before flashing, I could theoretically re-flash that backup and have my desire *exactly* as it is now?

Sorry if these are silly questions, just want to get my facts straight before I dive in.

For me, 3 mentioned apps ok, but custom zip (4MB) wasn't included in pack.

Maybe it's because I removed it by hand before, but shouldn't the ROM reinstall it? It does copy the .apk, but the widget doesn't get added to the list.

@Paul

I installed r2 A2SD+. On first boot market was very slow, it hanged. It took a lot of time to uninstall a simple app like Terminal. On second reboot market desappeared. In app menu now I have a generic icon that, if launched make sense crash. This is the same issue of r1.
