Guest jasup Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 i don't know why but google earth also ate up my internal memory, but a2sd worked with all the other apps installed previously of after google earth. so i recommend you to try it out with some other apps, too. i just deactivated my SD card and try to launch some app to see if APP2SD is working (they shouldnt start if it was right?) akinator : work copilot : crash doodle : work earth : crash gameboid/gensoid : work guitar hero : work map brut : work robot defense : work skyfire : work everything is working with SD deactivated...where is app2sd then?

Guest squrl Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 (edited) That's weird, I didn't wipe indeed. Rebaked and it's a-OK now, but still no custom ingredients. Hmm... So I got Navipanel, but Maps and Titanium Backup are still missing... weird I see it now. The apks are in data/app folder inside the update zip so it must be an A2SD conflict... Guest jasup Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 Well, it's definitely not working then. :P and what can i do wrong? i have my partition ext3, and isntalled the custom rom...is there any command, thing to do?
Guest radshag Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 as i see wifi thether issue is still to be solved. let's hope someone will find a solution soon. in recovery mode you can choose to have a nandroid backup of both your rom and ext partition. another way to completely backup your installed apps is to use titanium backup. with titanium you can batch backup everything. i have about 150 apps installed on my desire and it took only 5-7 minutes to backup all of them including their settings and cache so it's not a big deal. then you'll have all your apps on your sd card and you can batch (or separately) restore each of them anywhere, anytime. alarm sound: in android the alarm sound level has its own volume switcher which may be set to zero in your case. you can download tone picker from the market which has a sound level panel and from there you can easily access all of the different sound profiles (ringtone, media, alarm, call, system) of your phone. Thanks for the detailed response. the nandroid will backup the ext partition on the sd card? and know how to restore things later? What do I do to wipe the ext partition? All your other advice solved my issues. so thanks again :P
Guest Scottland Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 Everything seems to be working as expected for me, everything from the bake is there, all apps/wifi etc seem to be working and A2SD+ also appears to be working correctly. Nice one Paul :P
Guest jasup Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 jeez christ im getting crazy again , what can i do wrong app2sd didnt seems to work so i isntalled a2sd-2.7beta7-sc-signed and now infinite loop again i will never have it , i swear, never :P
Guest fatwolf Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 In regards to wifi tether. There was a bug report that it wont give you an ip or talk properly. Here is how to get it working 1. setup wifi tether how you want. make sure the security and protection isn't on. Leave IP as standard. 2. on your client set a static ip for the interface as 192.168.2.100, gateway as 192.168.2.254 and dns as 192.168.2.254 3. start the wifi tether and connect your other device to the wifi adhoc network. NOW HERE IS THE FUN PART 4. Make sure you have a terminal app installed as you have to do the next steps every time you connect (i use connectbot becuase you can set sessions with post login commands: > ping -c 4 192.168.2.100;exit<newline>" ) 5. in the terminal > ping -c 4 192.168.2.100 Suddenly net will work on the remote client. I do not know for sure but i think this is an arp issue the remote can message the phone but the phone cant message back until the ping triggers the arp update and the devices start talking right. this has to be done every new session until wifi tether fixes the bug.
Guest folgui Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 (edited) I just did a custom ingredients bake and it's in there! Could you confirm how you're preparing your ingredients zip? Hi Paul Current directory structure in zip file: data\app\com.dynotes.miniinfo.apk data\app\se.catharsis.android.calendar.apk data\app\some more apks system\app\Gallery3D.apk zip size: 4MB That's it! Thanks in advance. Regards, folgui. P.D. Going to try with only data\app stuff. EDIT: Only with \data\app stuff, it doesn't work either. Edited May 11, 2010 by folgui

Guest Pyr0x64 Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 @Paul Please, have you any hints why the downloaded HTC-Widget not work with your MCR. I can not see the downloaded Widget i my Widgetlist. Hmm yeah, I just tried "Get more HTC widgets" I picked Notes and according to the notification window the download completed. But clicking on Notes in the notification window only gives options for details or download and keeps going round in circles. I also tried restarting the phone but still no Notes widget
Guest Paul Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 I will look into the widget downloads... :P P

Guest helikopter Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 Thanks for the detailed response. the nandroid will backup the ext partition on the sd card? and know how to restore things later? What do I do to wipe the ext partition? you can tell it to do so. when you're in recovery mode, there's a menu option called 'backup/restore'. you can do several things there, including backup rom, backup rom+ext, restore rom, restore rom+ext and some other stuff. in recovery mode somewhere next to backup/restore there's another option called 'wipe'. from there you can wipe the device, the sd card fat partition, the sd card ext partition and all kinds of combinations of these. by the way, i recommend you to go and explore the custom recovery yourself. i'm sure you'll find some interesting things there that may come handy in the future.
Guest StuMcBill Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 Can someone explain if there is any benefit to A2SD+ over A2SD? I really have no idea what a Dalvik-Cache is. I am currently downloading a baked rom with A2SD and am planning on installing it soon, unless anyone can tell me otherwise? Stu

Stu Basically it means the 'extra' files the apps use (sort of temporary files) stay on your phone and not the SD card. Advantages: Can be faster to load the app Disadvantages: Uses up more space on the phone itself
Guest ascito Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 @Paul Pls can you have a look into Market desappearing problem after reboot?
Guest Paul Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 Market disappearing problem? Which options did you select? I have rebooted a number of times and still have Market! P
Guest Pyr0x64 Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 did you wipe before installing? have you tried any other ap2sd versions? i'm running an r2 build with a2sd+ and have no problems with the market disappearing or breaking after rebooting
Guest mountnorth Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 I will look into the widget downloads... :P P Here's some hint in case you didn't have time yet: E/PackageManager( 108): Package com.htc.rosiewidgets.note has no signatures that match those in shared user com.htc.rosie.uid.shared; ignoring! E/PackageManager( 108): Package com.htc.rosiewidgets.todayinhistory has no signatures that match those in shared user com.htc.rosie.uid.shared; ignoring! Might have something to do with the patched rosie in MCR?
Guest Paul Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 Ah yes, that'll be the problem! Hmmm... leave it with me... P
Guest ascito Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 (edited) Market disappearing problem? Which options did you select? I have rebooted a number of times and still have Market! P A lot of people reported this problem here. Market app becomes corrupted after a couple of reboot. I tested other a2sd version, but I always make a full wipe. I also read that devilk cache wipe via recovery may not work properly. Any suggestion? Edited May 11, 2010 by ascito
Guest gizzy98 Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 The only time ive found this to bug is if you connect to ur PC and use ur SD as a disk drive, then remount it and all of a sudden, force close on any non pre installed app. ie GTalk will work fine but Titanium, Astro etc all force close until you reboot the phone. Something to do with APPS2SD I would think. Has anyone managed to get any custom boot screen working with the r2 ROM?
