Guest afiorillo Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 There was a misunderstanding...I meant the danger to brick the device, where did read it? Oh, well. This one. (If the link won't work, then look for the thread entitled "Issues with USB connectivity etc. and root / A2SD" by Paul, in this room)
Guest zaphod0 Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 Baked a new r2 MCR earlier with APSD+ included. Seem to have trouble running apps. For example, handsent SMS force closes, popping up the welcome screen again each time. Other apps fail to function properly also. I'm guessing its some kinda cache problem? Anyone else tried APSD+ ?

It works perfectly. FCs are mostly due to missing wipes before flashing.

That reminds me. Each time I want to enter recover mode I run step2-windows.bat. This automatically pushed the rooted.zip file to my phone and takes ages. Is there a .bat file that doesn't push the zip file? Had a look at the batch file but wasn't sure on editing it Edited May 14, 2010 by zaphod0

Had a look at the batch file but wasn't sure on editing it You only need the 'pushfiles' folder, eventually with the Windows-modded files in addition (if this is your case). You can download an archive containing it from here. Just unzip it in a folder of your choice and use the proper batch file (.sh for Linux, .bat for Windows). Please remind that flashing r3 over r2 eventually leads to a boot loop unless the SD card is re-partitioned via the Recovery's tool; this is not a law, but was my (and other's) case, probably due to a glitch in the Dalvik-cache wipe tool included in the Recovery. So backup your SD before attempting the upgrade.

Guest fatwolf Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 *slaps head* thanks! :) I was doing the same thing until i read the thread from start to end and found that hint. It also makes sense since there is that recovery script is there in the 1st place.
Guest ourfear Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 Just added the circled battery gauge, i love it. :) Sure, every time I get into the recovery console my heart beats as a machine gun, the bricked' thread is a hell to read... +1, i like the lovely circled battery icon too, at least it is easy to know battery usage.
Guest ourfear Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 paul, could you tell me how to modify the rom zip file to let it is chinese UI by default? and i want to install a Sogou IME to it by default(not the HTC IME)
Guest irishandrew Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 After it's downloaded, click it to install it. er, nope, sorry - even after installation it does not show up. I have been using the Note's widget since it first came available on the Stock rom - so I do know how to use it! I also second that the Quickoffice app isn't showing up in my current R3 bake - it was there in my first though. This one was baked at 13.22 yesterday (14/05). A search in astro comes up with nothing, although the .apk is visible in the R3 zip file: /data/app/quickoffice.apk This is a change from the R2 zip where it was in /system/app/quickoffice.apk. Tried pulling it from the (R3) zip and installing via astro from the SD card but it refuses - guess I'm missing some dependencies? Same with a Titanium restore - app never shows up. Similarly with Notes - Titanium will restore it but the widget never appears in the list. Cheers, Andrew.
Guest Ceased2be Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 Jost got the strangest thing; unlocked my phone and it asked me to enter my PIN again. This time it's been lying in a corner for about 2 hours since I last touched it. (and I rebooted before that since Waze was hanging). Is there an event log I can check?
Guest irishandrew Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 (edited) Just baked another R3 rom with the Nexus Bootscreen and included the battery notification zip file in the bake - a few things strange with this bake: 1) No bootscreen despite ticking it 2) Still no Quickoffice 3) No Titanium backup 4) Still issue with Notes widget On the plus side the battery update bakes in without issue! Reverting to my nicely working nandroid now... -Andrew Edited May 15, 2010 by irishandrew
Guest ascito Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 The same here, no bootscreen despite ticking it but I have tap & rearrange home option back.
Guest Rdy2Go Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 2) Still no Quickoffice Just keep on waiting for QuickOffice :)

Guest irishandrew Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 (edited) battery notification zip? is it the circled lovely icon? if so, could you send me a copy? i want this feature. I got it from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=679937 Won't work on R2 by the way - will cause bootloop. R3 is fine (I believe R1 was too?). Related to whether or not the ROM is odex'd - needs to be deodexed like R3 is. Doesn't just change battery - new WiFi, BT, GPS, USB Debugging & downloading icons, the notification shade is now semi-transparent, tweet/message icons in the notification bar have the number of messages waiting in a green bubble superimposed on them (except HTC Mail it seems - can't remember about Gmail but think it also does not show) and the "More" option in the "Menu" of applications is now in red. May be other changes but these are what I have noticed so far :-) -Andrew. Edited May 15, 2010 by irishandrew
Guest hybridnotts Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 I just flashed and all is well apart from the sync icon staying in the task bar, regardless of restart or turning sync on and off. Not causing any problems that i can identify, just annoying.

Guest fatwolf Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 Time to try and r3 rom with an extra update of all the stuff for openvpn as well as the contents of the different status bar mentioned above. Fingers and Toes Crossed.
Guest fatwolf Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 Well it seemed to work new rom uploaded. I have all my config and stuff back. Problem is i now have 2 clocks in my top bar an analogue one and a digital one. Any suggestions on how I might get rid of the analogue one?

It will show if you have set an alarm. Personally, I prefer the original alarm clock icon.
Guest ascito Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 (edited) I'm with r3 A2SD+ and I'm having strange batter % indication behaviour. Like to fall from 100% to 90% in a second, the very moment I disconnected it from the charger. Anyone else? Edited May 16, 2010 by ascito
