Guest rrr2 Posted May 12, 2010 Report Posted May 12, 2010 Airplane mode turns off the phone and GPS. GPS is only receiving data and therefore can be used in flight. Is there a way to turn off the phone transmission while keeping GPS active?

Guest InvalidCast Posted May 12, 2010 Report Posted May 12, 2010 AFAIK, it's not possible. was already the case on i900
Guest rrr2 Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 Found a workaround that works! Not really Airplane mode but the phone is off, GPS works, and airline is happy. In comm manager, turn the phone off, turn Bluetooth on and GPS will function. As bluetooth is allowed in the cabin (excluding takeoff and landing) this solves it for me.

Did not work on my phone though. I'm using stock JD6.

Guest papao217 Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 i can use gps without simcard on my b7330... haven't tried it on my b7610 though...
Guest rrr2 Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 i can use gps without simcard on my b7330... haven't tried it on my b7610 though... Thank you papao217. AFAIK working without a simcard does not prevent phone communications and therefore still not allowed. Phones without it do connect to base stations and can even issue emergency calls.
