You should look up how Sebastian set up the vendor folder and scripts, it's possible to compile the rest of android against the edited libs we have with this ROM.

Already did that, but his files are made for the code aurora source code, while I'm using the source from google.

I've been using R6 (both with Apps2SD and without), and I'm experience loads of "force closes" and reboots. Not sure why as other users don't seem to be experiencing this many problems.

<SNIP>

I understand this is a beta version, so not a complaint, but thought I'd share my experiences so far.

Cheers,

Louis

Just to add a "me too" here.

And like Loius says, not a complaint, just a data point.

Even with the crashes, it still is better than 1.5 :-)

The r6 is working perfect allready, got a few errormessages at first boot....but nothing is crashing when using the phone. I can see also that a lot has happend on the android platform, makes me a little angry that google dont push more on that there should be an up to date version when releasing a phone.

they are...they're just too busy playing with 2.1 to report them =]

maybe one or two people have it running well...probably even better with 8220-6...r4 (without a2sd) was working pretty well for me until I went for r6 (without a2sd) and things just went down hill from there...I couldn't even make a phone call without the damn thing rebooting...back to 1.5 for now.

For those complainning of crashes, slowdowns, etc:

My 2.1 r6 is booted for 15 hours now. More than 50 apps/games installed with a2sd.

Not a single force close. And I've even woke up with android alarm this morning.

What I did to get it stable is fast was:

- Root explorer to delete things, expecially voice search, roadsync and topapps.

- Autokiller at optimum profile

- Zeam

- And now SetCPU with maximum performance.

That's all you need to run 2.1 better than stock 1.5.

You forgot the bit where you needed to own an 8220-6 perhaps? ;-)

Marcus,

Just did what you said - e.g. install SetCPU, AutoKiller, Zeam etc.

Will let you know how I get on. It is noticeably quicker (must be the SetCPU clocking), and no crash yet!

r6 Bugs..

1. android.process.acore Force close close on the begining.

2. Vibration doesnt working.

3. Market is pretty slow.

4. Another android.process Force close.

5. If you need to restart your phone, you need again to move SD card, and all apps will disapeare, and Market, and all widgets on homescreen (really, really bad...) Only with A2SD

6. When im trying to download from Market it just says "downloading".

7. A lot of force closes (android.process.acore)

8. When i end a call (with a red button) phone will restart...

Is there another way to end a call and if so, does that cause a crash?

i must add to the topic:

even though its beta, i have a single fc on startup and thats it.

from there on the phone is very responsive, no fc`s, market is working normally and every app i had on 1.5 is working on 2.1 even some new ones :) battery life is good and alarm is working correctly. the only thing i am missing is the vibrations which i never use so...

i think the final release is going to be very good;)

Did you create an ext2 partition and no swap trough the recovery image?

I seriously doubt that's true. Why would a T-Mobile rom meant to run better in a Non-T-Mobile phone?

I believe it's all a matter of right steps and a bit of luck.

Nope... Still crashing every few minutes!

Oh well... I love 2.1, but will probably flash 1.5 until its more stable.

1 more bug to add to the list.

When I make a call, or at least attempt to, the green button does not bring up the dialler.

Also the bug with having the sd card in and not booting is really a big pain.

Its been fun playing with this build but for now its way to buggy for me to use properly day to day so I am reverting back and will wait with baited breath for the official rom/hacked version that is stable!

Cheers

Phill

I think vibrate only currently works for 8220-6 users. For everyone else it is not working.

Me 12 hours. 15 apps and games. No a2sd. HELIX launcher 1.2a from market.

THE ONLY SECRET, DON'T PUSH WAIT ON ACORE FC. PUSH CLOSE AT FIST FC ON BOOT.

(sorry for caps, but this ROM make me nervous) and all the secret was to DON'T push WAIT.

Its work like a charm. Market works perfect on WiFi, almoust instant, 25.7 fps on neocore.
