[REQ] Howto: Auto Detect SIM Settings

When I install official ROM for i8000 (GT-I8000_I8000NXXJD1_I8000EURJD4_I8000XXJD1_I8000EURJD4_XX_EUR), it detects new SIM and automatically sets GPRS/MMS settings.

When I install custom ROM like Rapid or Sinan with same CSC file that comes with above ROM, it does not detect new SIM and locks it to Voda Phone etc.

Any solution for this or am I missing something here???

Settings, Network Settings

click Operator Settings (check that you have the right operator, yours/sim) ok

then, check Restore Network Settings

This should do it.

Btw, for others: selecting another Operator works as a trick against those pesky gprs data connections :)

Thanks, but it does not work for me. I really like your rom but this issue keeps bugging me...

First, maybe you should try using different csc file which doesn't have operator set.

In the csc there is a file CSCConfig.reg. In this file there is a setting for the operator - "CSC_Operator"=dword:0. If it is set to other values than 0, the settings will be locked to the operator whatever the number corresponds to.

The other option to try, is to check some registry keys like:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Destinations\The Internet]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Destinations\The WAP Network]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Destinations\My MMS Networks]

(and others), and check the key "ReadOnly"=dword:00000000.

If it is set to 1 then you can't change/save settings through Settings - Network Settings.

Change the key values to 0, restart the phone and then try to change the Operator settings.

Maybe this will do the trick.

Thank, this way I can done the manual setting. But not auto selection of SIM card. Used restore connection was wipe out all the connections I had manually entered.

The issue was: how to make auto detect SIM setting worked the way like the official ROM in Singapore. Thank for the help.

I had the same problem when I'd flashed with wrong choice in CSC...

I fixed it with the right choice from my CSC for Country and Operator, This list maybe will hep you to choose the right combination...

The 3 letter abbreviation must be the 3 before the version... I8000AMNJC1 (AMN SPAIN Spanish(Spain) "ORANGE")...

I use XEU English UK and every time asking me to use my SIM's settings..

That's mean your CSC have to be clean and having all the combination... Few chefs cleaning their CSC for size sake... The one I use is 197MB bigger than few of the ROMs I've used...

Thank for the reply. I used xeu for all the ROM flashing. I had no problem in auto selection of SIM card. When I use Rapid three ROM, JD6 sense 4.12, JE2 sense 4.2 all have this problem. I need to manually done the modem setting. When I used restore connection. All my setting was wipe out. Tried clear csc and flashed back to XEUJE2 csc with Rapid 4.2 JE2 sense. The problem still exist. It was no the CSC problem was the ROM.

Is there a registry tweat for it to make it auto selection of SIM card. Thank for reply!

The CSC issue is critical for users in India/Pakistan as I see no reference for both in above list of countries. In case of standard ROM, it detects SIM settings automatically regardless of the CSC file selected. But in case of custom ROM, we need correct CSC. This is one reason I am on standard ROM so far ( I miss i900 days when we had no such issue)

When I installed pdaviet ROM from sonBlack, it detected my SIM and set correct settings!!!
