Guest sede Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 (edited) What launcher are you using? try helix launcher (2) or launcher pro I am using the same acer launcher like before. Previously I used the LCR 1.5 + acerlauncher2 addon, but now one of the built in one of LCR 1.6, which is exactly the same as the previous acer launcher with the fan like media and web players. I thing it can't be the launcher which eats 5x more battery... How could I change the launcher to check the battery usage? jayziac: Thanks, I will keep my eye on the services. But I have the ES task killer installed and killing everything frequently and also SeePU running to monitor the CPU usage, but it is low. Everything I use is the same like before with the old ROM. When I flashed the BIN I installed a very old version by mistake first. Maybe I have to re-flash the new BIN again, or the previous version then the new version, because maybe some changes aren't included in the newest BIN. Edited May 19, 2010 by sede
Guest jayziac Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 Try turning off the task killer. Some of them run in the background and checks too often and uses battery power. I personally don't think they provide anything valuable over how the stock Android OS handles background processes (most are suspended anyway, except services which are running). Make sure wifi & gps are disabled. Use only 2G data if you're not downloading a lot of content. I can get up to 5 days of use per charge out of my liquid if I use it lightly and turn off at night while sleeping.

In other topics the acer launcher has been mentioned as a huge battery consumer. Search for helix launcher 2 on the market.
Guest matroska Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 (edited) Try to go into aero mode and try attaching usb cable doing logcat. Using logs it should easier understanding which is the service that is eating battery. In my case was BRUT Maps. EDIT: even if I removed Brut Maps, then the high consumption still remains. I have also installed Launcher pro beta...but tonight I had a 26% battery consumption in 7 hours in aero mode...terrible Cheers Aldo Edited May 20, 2010 by matroska
Guest sede Posted May 20, 2010 Report Posted May 20, 2010 Thanks for everyone for the answers and advises. Yesterday night I reinstalled the LCR 1.6, selected the acer launcher (with the fan like media player) and removed the Liquid from the charger. The wifi was off, entered the account details, but did not start using the market yet. In the morning, after 8 hours the battery was still on 97% !!!!! Now, nearly after 12 hours of stand by it is 95% !!!! So the rumors about the acer launcher is battery consuming are not true in this case, perhaps in other conditions. Now I decided to install the apps from the market again (I used the Astro file manager mainly for backup/restore before, later on backed up the same old appks with Titanium backup), maybe some old app or some restored setting caused the battery problem. I will keep you informed about my findings. Thanks for the logcat idea.
Guest peterx666 Posted May 20, 2010 Report Posted May 20, 2010 Strange here :D I only consumed 10% battery in the time when I was sleeping (about 7-8hours) :( I just put the phone into standby mode, No Wi-Fi turning on :( But still receving signals from my telecommunication provider. I am not talking about the usage time, but the standby time is quite the same with the Donut one  Or even batter?? I normally lose 50% of the battery overnight with everything switched off Wish someone knew how to extend it . got chargers in nearly every room in the house, usb computer..... one in the car Its the only thing you can do otherwise when u want it it wont be there!
Guest peterx666 Posted May 20, 2010 Report Posted May 20, 2010 There's probably an app that is eating the battery. The apps that run in the background can be found In Settings -> Applications -> Running Services. These are active, whereas apps listed in taskmanagers are actually "suspended" until they're brought to the foreground. I get a little bit less than 1% batt drop per hour of cell standby. there is no running service on my 1.6?.... just manage applications which shows everything
Guest jayziac Posted May 20, 2010 Report Posted May 20, 2010 Yeah maybe running services is a 2.1 feature only. There's also a process manager -> services tab in the Astro File Manager if you have it. Or turn on usb debugging and connect to your computer and use 'logcat' to see what apps are busy when it's idling. Most likely it should hint at what app is draining the battery.
Guest sede Posted May 21, 2010 Report Posted May 21, 2010 Tonight I made a test with the liquid with LCR1.6 and 50-60 applications installed from the market (not from backup this time). WiFi, data syncronization, Es task manager and SeePU were turned on. The consumption was only 5% under 10 hours!!! It is not a joke!!! Maybe some app ate up the the battery which were backed up under old BINs, and when restored they became malfunctioning and affected the consumption.
