Guest goce.nakov Posted May 22, 2010 Report Posted May 22, 2010 @Sh4d0w940 Are you abondened the project mate? There is no new update from you.....I,v returned to vanilla 1.7 sense your last update with JIT enabled was too slow when you are geting back on home screen and in most cases there was a home.fc
Guest igor_anta Posted May 22, 2010 Report Posted May 22, 2010 I'm checking for updates here all the time:) I know that 2.2 is da s@#t now but as far as i get it we can't get it working at the moment so let's continue working on a stable 2.1 ROM. I tried the Update 6 and in games it seems faster but the overall experience is not really good. It needs some stability and speed improvements. So far the vanillaish rom with adw launcher was the best for me. Reeeeally fast and very few FC's, sometimes the whole day goes without a FC or reboot. Cheers and keep up the good work.

It's just that the official 2.1 update is coming for sure and I'm not very sure what should be changed on this rom. That's not the goal of this rom, it isn't meant to be stable and reliable. That's Huawei's job, I edited this rom to show a little of what will be possible with the official update. Some of the changes like enabling JIT made the rom less stable but ALOT faster. That's why I showed the linpack scores. Making a stable and reliable rom to use as your main phone was never the intention of this rom. Sh4d0w940

In the event that Huawei are lying sods and they don't release the 2.1 rom, would you be continuing your rom to improve the stability or even working with BoBo and Paul?

In that case I will probably create a different rom wich will then be optimized for stability. And working with Paul or Bobo would be great, but I don't think I will be much help then, they have much more knowledge about custom roms and kernels and so. Just look at the MCR or other custom roms from Paul, it shows how much he can do to improve roms. If you wan't a stable rom you should ask devs with more experience than i have. Sh4d0w940
Guest gusthy Posted May 22, 2010 Report Posted May 22, 2010 I made a dirty hack. Downloaded G1 Eclair, and replaced Huawei sqlite3 with the one in the G1 package. At least contact list comes up faster. Of stability currently I cannot tell anything, it is running for an hour w/o any FC or reboot, except for the one in the gmail account setup. (I will try to fix it using this method, hopefully  ) @Sh4d0w, if it works, can you make a build?

Sh4d0w940 That's why I asked initially. From what i gathered the latest news are not really that good, Huawei might have given up on us:( So you have plethora of willful beta testers and we have you to compile the rom's for us:D BTW, again with the vanillaish thing (I'm kinda boring with that, aint I:) but it's really stable! I'm running it right now, with the build.prop and OpenGL driver from your latest update and it's smooth as hell. All we need is JIT to work in coordination with all of this and I might even forget about vibration:D Also I'm running the ADW launcher, it's out of beta and in RC phase now so it seems complete, and awesome if I may say:)

It looks and animates great too! Well worth doing. http://jbthemes.com/anderweb/adwlauncher.html

But you could also do that yourself, you just open the zip file, edit the files, repack the zip and sign. That's it :( Still if Huawei gives up on us they should just release the rom they have now + all sources and we'll be fine :( And if they like us they could also make the .32 kernel work on our pulse  Sh4d0w940

BTW, 9 hours of continous uptime, best on my Pulse w/2.1, no reboots, and I understand all the acores B) (not too much) Edit: not 9, 10 :( Edited May 23, 2010 by gusthy

Guest DanWilson Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 This all fails for me... If I boot with SD Card in, it freezes on the "ANDROID" screen. Otherwise, I have space for about 10 apps. Just not enough space... If its on a previous page, I'm sorry, but 26 pages to read, no thanks!

It wouldn't help anyway, he probably meant sd folder without "card". (wich is also already there) Did you wipe the sd:ext partition before installing?

Guest Sh4d0w940 Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 Wiped everything, a couple of times... Did you also wipe after installing? because that results in a boot loop.
Guest DanWilson Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 Did you also wipe after installing? because that results in a boot loop. I cant remember... But it boots fine without SD card... So try wipe - install again?

Guest Sh4d0w940 Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 This phone will kill me soon... With SD card on first boot, how long? A few minutes max <10min for sure.
Guest DanWilson Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 A few minutes max <10min for sure. Ah its OK. It works now. At least, it boots and I've got the card in  . Now to install some apps!
Guest Epic-Emodude Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 Hi, I am looking at installing a custom ROM and am wondering: If I want to get rid of some of the stock apps, say the browser for example would it just be the case of unziping the rom, deleting the browser.apk and .odex? If I wanted to then put another browser in (opera mini 5) would I then just put the .apk for that in the ROM in place of the browser? Then i just have to zip and resign it? Thanx Aaron
