Guest xupamki Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 download recovery, choose install-recovery-windows.bat - right click/edit: erase all and paste it: fastboot-windows.exe flash boot boot.img fastboot-windows.exe flash system system.img fastboot-windows.exe flash userdata userdata.img fastboot-windows.exe reboot save& close this file. download this archive and copy all .img files into recovery folder. Reboot the phone pressing "volume-down"+"red-key" so it enters bootloader mode. run install-recovery-windows.bat and wait for rebooting your phone. DONE. Thank you. Flashed fine. WI-FI isn't working Camera isn't working. but from the short test I made it is way faster than the 2.1. Very good work. I'm getting the sim unlock pin message. What's with that? Besides that it seemed very stable. The phone froze when I opened the camera trough the gallery. I had to take out the battery. Haven't done any more testing. Restored the nandroid backup. I made a call and the sound seemed a little louder.
Guest gusthy Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 @TomG: Wouldn't the community be able to lend you a hand out of testing? There are people here with development skills too.
Guest MuhaJR Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 (edited) We haven't yet found the key combination for starting recovery mode from power-off on the device, so you have to enter recovery by doing either 'adb reboot recovery' or by installing 'Quick Boot' from the market Errr, power off Pulse, press and hold red key + menu key... Recovery mode? Working: Vibrate 2G Network 3G Network USB Apps Brightness Widgets Browser SD Card (after formatting via system) Audio (Call, Mic, Sound, everything) Broken: Rotate / Gyroscope Camera LEDs Wi-Fi Live Wallpaper GPS If wifi would work, it would be great even in this phase... It works faster than any ROM I've ever tested... but it has no wifi... Edited August 25, 2010 by MuhaJR
Guest daveycarter Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 Any chance someone could let me have this as a flahsable zip? I am off work at present, bored out my mind and would like to have a play with this and give some constructive feedback. I have been following this thread since the first post and things are really starting to come together. If someone could PM me with a link to a flashable zip I would be really grateful and you will save me from developing into some sort of day time TV muppett............... :-)
Guest Daz555 Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 (edited) Any chance someone could let me have this as a flahsable zip? Install intructions are a few posts up. As Tom G put it: Just flash the images with fastboot. If you can't figure out how to use fastboot (instructions have been posted many times) then I don't recommend using this rom. See the instructions above and flash this via fastboot: http://www8.zippyshare.com/v/30624221/file.html

Without network and apps it is easy to be fast, so we cannot see the real performance. But it is very exciting project.
Guest xupamki Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 Without network and apps it is easy to be fast, so we cannot see the real performance. But it is very exciting project. One thing I loved, was the lack of lag starting and ending a call... It's instant.
Guest Simon O Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 Could I just ask people not to make any flashable ZIPs of this for now please. As a lot of things are currently not working it would be foolish to allow the wider community to use this. The last thing we need is to have hundreds of posts saying this doesn't work, how do I do this etc. Once the bugs have been resolved and the rom is stable then certainly there will be a flashable zip or two. Thanks for the feedback guys. This is not suitable for the wider community yet, so a signed zip isn't the greatest idea. Just flash the images with fastboot. If you can't figure out how to use fastboot (instructions have been posted many times) then I don't recommend using this rom. Thanks for respecting the developers work, guys. Tom has already stated that the ROM is no where near finished, but you decide to make and release flashable zips already? By doing this you've opened up an alpha rom to the wider community which will only cause problems in the long run (and already in the few hours the flashable update was made we've already had somebody comment that wifi doesn't work).
Guest Simon O Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 (edited) @TomG: Wouldn't the community be able to lend you a hand out of testing? There are people here with development skills too. Unless you have experience with porting Android and can fix the various issues with the code then there isn't anything you can do. Heck, even I can't help with this rom as I know nothing about code. Wish I could help though. Toms all alone with this at the moment and I've been trying to get some of the Cyanogen guys to help out, but so far nothing ;) Edited August 25, 2010 by flibblesan

Guest xupamki Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 I asked for a Flasheable ROM, but it was just that I was curious about the work that is being done. I knew about what wasn't working. I had this images flashed to my U8230 for as long as 15 minutes. Tested 1 call and took a fast glimpse on settings. I'm aware that this is an undergoing work. I'm really liking the work and appreciate what is being done. Like I said, I'm not using it, I just wanted to have a look at it. I commented that Wi-FI doesn't work, but it wasn't in a 'complaint'. I did it for the developers know that it doesn't work either on U8230.

The problem with releasing this test rom as a flashable ZIP is that, sooner or later, other forums will pick up on this and we'll suddenly get many inexperienced users trying the rom and reporting bugs that are already know about. Keeping the rom as images means that only people that are capable of reading instructions can test the rom. People like you, that can read instructions, are much more welcome to test the rom that somebody that just downloads without reading then complains that feature X or function Y fails. By all means feel free to test the rom. Flash the images to your phone and if you find a bug that hasn't been reported the paste some logs and let Tom know. Much better than hundreds of "me too" posts

As a programmer myself (but with not enough knowledge/time to invest in android) I totally agree with you that a flasheable ROM at this moment would lead to many "noobs" flashing without knowing what they are doing and what to expect. Like I said I'm happy to happy testing the work. And since I'm using a U8230 instead of the u8220 It could help to. If you need help on testing a specific feature and get the logs, I'm available to test it. Altought I don't know how to get the logs, but some reading will lead me there. I'm also liking the work you are doing with FLB. ;)

I've seen him get irritated but that's it. He was simply stating that people that think this ROM is a stable 2.2 because it's a flashable .zip. I could flame back, but I don't feel like that today. Well that's your opinion and you are entitled to it no matter how incorrect it is. Lulz. @hungary (missed you post in the quote) - Any other topic? Lulz. I think Bobo is sleeping and the other mods must think we're partying or something! Back on-topic - what problems are even fixable? Because I want to know if this is a lost cause without the 2.1 source, or if it will be usable as an everyday thing. Which would be wicked! ;) No mods online in the Pulse forum... Guest daveycarter Posted August 25, 2010 Report Posted August 25, 2010 " only people that are cpable of reading instructions can test the rom." Sorry if my request has resulted in this going off topic but as I am off work at present due to my illness, I just had some time on my hands. It may be worth asking knowledge levels rather than assuming though, you never know my 20+ yrs in the ICT industry may help in some areas. Back on topic..... so is 2.2 achievable without the source, or is this just a programming exercise? :-)
